Friday night jazz returns to Barnaby’s Lounge with the superb Dan Foster Jazz Trio performing live from 8:30PM.

Dan Foster formed Kairos Ensemble in 2001. The ensemble have produced five albums to date: The River (2002), Psalms Live (2004), Psalms (2006), Passion Suite (2010) and Rejoicing Blues (2013).

The group has toured extensively in the UK and France and been featured on both BBC Radio 3 and 4. Dan’s also played with Chris de Burgh and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. Heavyweight sidemen : James Sunney (bass), Stu Jackaman (guitar)

🎷✨Were you here this weekend? If not, here's what you missed...

Thursday kicked things off with the brilliant Paul Huggett Band, bringing groove, soul and outstanding musicianship to Robertson Street.

🎨 Friday afternoon saw Custard Caravan take over the lounge with a wonderfully colourful mix of cabaret, live music, art, laughter and beautiful eccentricity.

🎶 Later that evening, Amber • Ali • Katz Jazz Trio delivered a captivating set of jazz, world influences and improvisation before another packed Karaoke Night kept the music flowing until the early hours.

🍽️ Sunday Jazz Lunch featured the superb Lynda Murray Jazz Trio with special guest vocalist Naomi Kilby, combining world-class jazz with Powell's Kitchen's legendary Sunday roasts.

🎸 We closed the weekend with Glen Gholizadeh & Friends, whose intimate acoustic session provided the perfect soundtrack to a relaxing Sunday afternoon.

A huge thank you to every musician, artist, writer, singer and guest who helped make the weekend so special. Barnaby's is more than a venue. It's a community built around live music, creativity, great food and great company.

It’s official — Jazz Hastings held its final concert at the Angling Club last night.

A huge thank you to John Donaldson, his wife Agatha, Reg Hendrickse, Roger Carey and everyone else who has provided nearly two decades of incredible service to the jazz community in Hastings. They’ve built something really special and I’m honoured to help carry it forward.

There’ll be a summer break, and from September the new home of Jazz Hastings will be… Barnaby’s. We’ll share more soon — including how ticketing and capacity will work — but for now just wanted to let everyone know the torch has been passed.

And one lovely bit of news: Barnaby’s has a Yamaha U3 coming on Friday — an industry‑standard upright gifted to support the next chapter of jazz in Hastings 🎹
