This Week’s Results:

Seniors

Last week saw the seniors play Saltburn, with a sobering 11-3 defeat at home. Looking to bounce back, the gents travelled to Middlesbrough Municipal — unfortunately it didn’t quite go to plan, with Seaton going down 10-4 across the matches.

Men’s Team

The long stretch on the road continues! Our boys took 11 points away to Bishop before last week’s match against Wynyard was washed out. This week saw them on their travels again, this time to Teesside — a remarkable 14-10 win away from home at a tough venue!

Two matches coming up next week: the rearranged fixture away at Wynyard on Monday, before a return home on Wednesday against Eaglescliffe. Come down to catch some golf and stick around for England’s opening match of the World Cup!

Ladies

A busy run of fixtures to catch up on:

• 22nd May — Sivewright team won 4-1 at home to Hartlepool
• 29th May — Sivewright team lost 3-2 away at Blackwell
• 3rd June — Sivewright team won 3-2 away at Hartlepool
• 5th June — Anderson team won 5-0 at home to Heworth

A strong run from both sides — well played, ladies!

Juniors

Huge congratulations to Ollie Porteous, Ollie Hudson and Max Swalwell, who have all been selected to represent Durham County. A fantastic achievement for the boys and for the club!

This year will mark the 23rd hosting of the Durham County Amateur Individual Championship at Seaton Carew.

As one of the founding clubs of the Durham County Golf Union, Seaton Carew has always held a place in the story of the County Championship.

In 1908, it was here that the inaugural championship was contested; setting a benchmark that has endured for over a century.

Since then, no venue has been entrusted with the championship more often.

This year, the links once again takes its place at the centre of county golf.

A return not just to a venue…but to its origins.

Jack Maxey of Hornsea Golf Club clearly has a soft spot for Seaton Carew.

Having taken the title in 2024, Jack returned to winning ways on the links by claiming the 57th Seaton Carew Men’s Salver.

A strong field had to contend with the wind across both rounds, and the course proved a stern test for everyone who teed it up.

Congratulations to Jack, a worthy champion after two excellent rounds of 68 and 70 for a four-under-par total.

⛳ Junior Seaton Salver 2025 🏆

What a day Monday was for Seaton juniors! On the hottest May day ever recorded at the links, Theo Chapman took Division 1 with a brilliant gross 74 — sealing it with a 10-foot birdie on the last to huge cheers from watching members. 👏

Alex Robertson claimed Division 2 with an impressive nett 65, continuing his unbeaten run in the junior team this season. 🔥

With over 100 junior members and growing, Seaton’s junior section is going from strength to strength! 💪

We’re delighted to share the wonderful news that one of our own, Ella Crang, has been crowned Durham County Ladies Champion!

Ella sealed the title with an impressive 3&2 victory over Kayla Hall of Durham City Golf Club, closing out the final on the 16th hole. The conditions weren’t quite as forecast — light drizzle replaced the promised sunshine — but that did nothing to dampen Ella’s form or her determination.

This is Ella’s second County Championship title, her first having come in 2022 when the event was hosted right here at Seaton Carew (though she was a Wynyard member at the time). It’s especially pleasing to see her lift the trophy as a Seaton Carew player.

Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Ella on a fantastic achievement and a thoroughly deserved win. We’re all incredibly proud to have her flying the flag for Seaton Carew. Well played, Ella!
