Happy Birthday to the home of the Civic Disco The Ultimate Civic Disco and Soul Cellar

It's nearly our birthday! 🎈

Join us as we celebrate the Alban Arena’s 57th Birthday! 🎂

From 10am – 2pm on the 16th June join us for a cup of tea and slice of cake. We’ll be pulling out some of the old archive posters, photographs and news stories from the theatre from time. We’ll also be running tours of the backstage of the theatre in case you ever wanted to see the theatre from behind the curtain. 🎭

After much discussion ..

with the UCD team (DJs, sponsors and volunteers) we have decided not to go ahead with this year’s annual pre-Christmas charity UCD fundraiser mainly due to our home venue the Alban Arena (Civic) in St Albans not being able to offer us a suitable pre-Christmas date again this year 2024 (and next year 2025, due to the Covid event postponement backlog) and was only able to offer us the EMC in Harpenden again this year.

We did as an experiment go ahead with the EMC Harpenden date last year and although very successful as an event with the ever popular SoulFish and 2Tone we made our first ever loss 😞
(due to fast rising costs).

We also feel strongly that the natural home for the UCD is the Civic (The Alban Arena) in St Albans, where it all started way back in 1968!

The Alban Arena have promised us a viable date in 2025 at a preferential charity rate and we will let you know as soon as we have fixed that date!

We also plan to work again with the St Albans Museum and Gallery trust, one of our original charity sponsors and we hope to announce a series of special events in Spring 2025 in and around St Albans recalling the musical era’s since the Civic Disco was born in St Albans back in 1968.
