Memories at Castle Hedingham Memories Freehouse Pub was established in 1976 and has just undergone a £100,000 refurbishment. We also specialize for very large Funeral Receptions.

We serve a wide selections of beers, wines and spirits in a welcoming friendly atmosphere. We have a Games Bar showing BT & SKY SPORTS also offering Pool and Darts for your entertainment. Chinatown Restaurant and Takeaway was established in 1991 and serves authentic Chinese and Thai cuisine to eat in or take away.

If you are as old as me (80) you may remember me opening The Viking public house 50 years ago on this day the 18th May 1976. It was last open on New Years Eve 31st December 2024 and has since been sold and rebuilt by a company by the name of Marjoram Pubs Ltd. It is due to be open again quite soon in the coming month or two and renamed The Elms, referring to one of its original names which was The Eleven Elms. This is the same company that has The Swan Inn at Chappel plus six more Essex pubs. It will be great to see it open again albeit not for being a night club and then later serving Chinese food but with English cuisine. I would like to wish the new owners every success for the future hoping for another 50th year anniversary in the year 2076. Kind regards Roger Wilson.
