The Causeway Foot Inn & Kirby's Bistro is a dog-friendly, traditional country inn and restaurant located to the north of Halifax, complete with comfy armchairs and open fires. We have completely refurbished the whole pub, with the main bar now decorated with traditional game’s keepers style décor. The separate ‘Rambler’s Rest’ is exclusively for families, and is dog friendly - the perfect place to relax after a long walk! Our restaurant area has now been redecorated into a vintage tea room! Our location makes us popular with walkers & mountain bikers visiting Ogden Water and the surrounding countryside. Our dog-friendly enthusiasm means both you and your pets can enjoy a relaxing drink and meal together in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We are able to cater for small functions, such as parties and funerals. We offer the best in hand-pulled traditional beers and ales, including regularly changing guest ales. Our restaurant prides itself in offering the highest quality meals using fresh, local produce, prepared to the highest standards. If you are looking for a pub in Halifax with restaurant quality food and the best in real ales, then The Causeway Foot Inn & Kirby's Bistro is definitely the place for you.

What an incredible afternoon in memory of our lovely Louise. 🩷

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday at the Causeway Foot Inn for our fundraising afternoon tea. I had hoped to raise around £300, but thanks to your extraordinary generosity, we have raised £1,400 so far—and counting!

Terry, Jake, Jack and I are truly grateful to everyone who attended, donated and supported the event. Your kindness means so much to us.

An afternoon like this takes a team, and there are some special people I would like to thank:

🩷 Kev, Teagan and the rest of the kitchen team for all their hard work preparing the afternoon tea.

🩷 Our front-of-house team—Lucy Oakley, little Lucy and Oscar—for looking after everyone and embracing the spirit of the day.

🩷 Everyone who generously donated raffle prizes, with a special mention to my dear friend Maureen, who went above and beyond with her wonderful basket of gifts.

🩷 Jenn Fletcher for her magnificent “titti buns”, which brought plenty of smiles!

We are also hugely grateful to our suppliers for their generous support: John Ellison of Ellison’s Butchers in Cullingworth, ASA Nicholson, LWC Drinks and Total Foods.

Thank you for helping us remember Louise with so much love, laughter and generosity. It was a very special afternoon. 🩷

We have some very sad news to share. Our dear friend Laurence Davis passed away peacefully at Manorlands Hospice on Sunday 20 September. ❤️

Christine his wife wanted us to let Laurence’s friends at the Causeway Foot know. He and Christine have been friends of ours for over 20 years, and Laurence was a regular here long before Terry and I took over.

We’ll remember him enjoying a glass of red w**e and a Sunday roast, always with a smile for everyone. Most of all, we’ll miss his kindness and generosity. Our thoughts are with Christine and all who knew and loved him.

Laurence’s funeral will take place on Monday 19 October at 1.30 pm at Shay Grange Crematorium, followed by a gathering at Shipley Golf Club. Anyone who would like to pay their respects is welcome.

Rest in peace, Laurence. ❤️

All stocked up with your favourite ice creams and ready for the heatwave! 😍🍦☀️

We’ve also got some fabulous fresh salads on for those of you who might want to give my curry or chilli a miss over the next few days! 🥗🥵😄

Speaking of heat… please spare a thought for my amazing kitchen team, who’ll be working through some pretty unbearable temperatures to keep everyone fed and happy. 🥵🔥❤️

Your hard work never goes unnoticed – thank you all! 🙏🙏

A huge thank you to for this incredible handmade gift ❤️

We were absolutely blown away when we received this stunning piece today, made entirely from sh***un cartridges! 😳🦌

Not only is it a fantastic piece of artwork, but your kind words meant just as much to us. We are truly grateful for the thought, time and effort that went into creating it.

It’s customers and friends like you that make what we do so worthwhile.

Thank you again – we absolutely LOVE it! ❤️😊

🚨 A few exciting updates here at The Causeway Foot Inn! 🚨

We’ve installed a brand-new cellar system which looks like something straight out of Star Wars 😳🚀 — that should certainly keep our resident ghost entertained! 👻

Behind the bar we’ve also added some lovely new shiny taps, giving the bar a fresh new look and ensuring your favourite pint is poured to perfection 🍺

And just look at the front of the pub! 🌺🌷🌸

A huge thank you to Gardenius for supplying the stunning wall baskets which are already making the Causeway look absolutely gorgeous.

Pop by for a pint, a bite to eat, and see the improvements for yourself!
