Well… apparently all good things must come to an end… After seven and a half years of running The Queen’s Head, this will be our final week behind the bar.
Our last day will be this Sunday.
We’re sorry we haven’t been able to give everyone more notice, but things have moved rather quickly and, until recently, we weren’t in a position to say much. So rather than making this a long, emotional goodbye (nobody needs that on Instagram), we’d simply like to say farewell and thank you all.
Firstly, a huge thank you to Adnams for giving us the opportunity to run this wonderful old pub and for supporting us throughout our time here.
A massive thank you to the people of Blyford & the surrounding villages in particular for supporting us through the good times, the bad times, Covid, staffing problems, energy bills, food inflation and all the other things that make running a small pub in Britain such a fulfilling career choice. 😂
And a massive thank you to all our local suppliers, your support, flexibility and patience have meant so much — we really couldn’t have done it without you.
We’ve met some brilliant people, made proper friends and had plenty of laughs along the way.
As for us? the children and all our little furry and feathered friends, and I are off to a lovely, quiet cottage. For now, I’ll be slowing things down, getting stuck into my pottery and concentrating on a few other things.
Will there be another catering operation somewhere down the road? Quite possibly — assuming the Government eventually makes running a small independent business something other than an extreme sport. 🤞😂
As for The Queen’s Head, we can’t say anything about its future just yet, but we’re genuinely optimistic that there could be exciting times ahead for this very special old pub.
So… watch this space! ✌️❤️🥳
We wish whoever takes over every success, and all of you nothing but the very best.
But we’re not gone quite yet. We’ve got one last week, one last weekend and hopefully a few more good memories to make.
