A new month of evenings to connect, play, listen, think and spend time together in the heart of Manchester.

We’d love to invite you to a slightly different kind of evening at Hinterland on Wednesday 9th September.

We’ll be joined by storyteller and author Kim Willis for No Fair Maidens — a journey into the lost goddesses of Britain and the strange, powerful women who inhabit Celtic mythology.
Through stories of Welsh enchantresses, river spirits and forgotten goddesses, Kim will weave old myths with new imaginings, exploring what these stories might still have to say about how we live now. The evening will include storytelling, reflection and simple embodied practices, all held in the atmosphere of Hinterland.

If mythology, folklore, storytelling, or simply spending an evening looking at the world through a different lens interests you, come and join us.

No Fair Maidens — a journey with the lost goddesses of Britain.

For the last two years, we’ve been a space in a basement at the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, adding our own little corner to the city’s cultural life through drinks, music, conversations, events and good vibes.

We’re very grateful to everyone who has contributed to the journey so far: everyone who has visited, volunteered, performed, collaborated, worked with us or simply spent some time here.

In many ways, it still feels like early days. But we now have something to share about the future of what we do.

This summer we celebrated Hinterland’s second anniversary.

Against what the economy might predict for independent, community-led hospitality, and despite what a few online critics suggested, we’re still here! The last two years have challenged us, taught us a great deal, and helped us better understand what Hinterland is, and what it could become for Manchester.

That journey has led us to an important decision.

On 1st September we’ll make an announcement about what’s next for Hinterland.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported us over the past two years, and a special thank you to .productions for creating this beautiful little film.
