Stongate in the news again 150 jobs to go in there head office as they brace themselves for the big storm, me thinks if a few of those 150 people loosing there jobs would have answered there phones, instead of blocking my attempts to speak to various departments, then we would still have our local pub intact, smoke and daggers was not strong enough words to describe them, they have this process where you want to get tho to let's say compliance department you have to go tho a barage of blockers to stop you speaking to the department you want to speak too, only to be told you need to email your questions over. OK fine I would say after wasting a hour of my time that I wouldn't ever get back but send it to general enquiries, you would not get a email address out of them for love nor money, now if you want ti call the order line to buy there ripp off beer then there was a queue of people there to take your call or remind you about your order that's due on Thursday, on the Monday of that week, as there sales team are available 24/7 strange that

THE FOX ORSETT HEATH.

While all the rumors are still going around I would just like to make things clear to everyone, I had a long chat with the new RM that's just taken over the region, for the holding company, when I was completing the handover, back to them, I asked what was going to happen to the pub?? Is it going up for sale, become a building plot ??? he said at present, they are going to ride the storm that's upon them in July, when it could all come to a end, it's that close to call they need to find a hell of a lot of money in a very short period of time, and pub backers are few and far between in the present climate, the pub could not continue to run the way it was, being non compliant in many ways, unfortunately lack of investment over the past 15/20 years has caught up with the place, the property needs a hell of a lot doing to it, people used to live up above the pub, with no adequate means of a fire escape, I myself would not let that happen, I could not live with myself if someone was hurt or even killed, electrics are unsafe, and had 25 immediate action required faults, the fire doors are all non compliant, every door and frame in the place needs changing, exit doors need to all be opening out, the front signage is falling away from the building, carpark is like pot hole city, kitchen was condemned by the Local authority, 2 days after us taking occupation, toilets were a big issue needing to be updated and incorporating a disabled toilet. the list is endless.
We have run the pub for the last 4 months from February the 7th until the 11th of June, ive worked long and hard to get people back in the pub, some of whom have kept away for years, but with a lot of effort we had them back in there drinking and returning week in week out, we even had a return vist from the ex local quiz master the legend Dave shelly we are beyond gutted to have to walk out the door for the last time this morning and to see it boarded up literally in front of our very eyes, me and Maddie would just like to thank all those returning customers, friends and family for your support over the last 4 months, we had some great times in there made some good new friends, that we will keep in contact with, for years to come, our hands were tied in the end, and trust me people I tried evey angle possible, to get to a diffrent conclusion, but the powers that be decided to shut the doors, and deny the locals, customers, both old and new, there local pub
