An initiative to encourage pubs, clubs and bars to work with Kent Police to promote safer socialising and reduce alcohol related crime has been launched in .

Best Bar None is an accreditation scheme supported by the Home Office and drinks industry that aims to improve standards in the evening and nighttime economy.

On Wednesday 24 June 2026, licensing officers from Kent Police, together with Pubwatch Gravesham, G-Safe and Street Pastors launched the scheme at Blake’s nightclub.

By agreeing to join the scheme, licence holders will work closely with the police, council and other businesses to reduce crime and keep their communities safe. They must also be able to demonstrate their competency in four key areas – venue management, staff training and care, customer safety and welfare, and customer service and community.

District commander for Gravesend, Chief Inspector Sarah Rivett said: ‘We have a busy and thriving nighttime economy and I am delighted that 2 premises, The King’s Head and TJ’s, have already successfully achieved their accreditation.

‘With many more currently working towards accreditation, we look forward to seeing the scheme continue to grow across Gravesend.’
