The Good Sport is now closed. This Instagram page will close in the next few days too.

Paul and I opened The Good Sport in 2018 as our brewery tap-room. We had no money! And two small children, and a guest house and a new brewery. Life was very hectic and we were figuring things out as we did them. It was fun, and hard! We've had some amazing members of The Good Sport team, and have some wonderful happy memories of our brew-pub. We survived Covid, and extended the building and started to figure out how to do things (mostly!)

Paul started to distil and make spirits - gin first, and now single malt whisky, ready for launch in 2027 - and he loves it.

In the summer of 2024 we felt the pub no longer reflected who we were and what we wanted to do with our business. It was time for change.

We talked a lot. We wanted to close The Good Sport, and to reopen with a new place. Somewhere that reflected where we are in our journey now. In particular, somewhere that better showcases the drinks Paul makes.

Over the last few weeks we have been ripping out and tearing down, and now we are rebuilding. We have new seating, a stunning new bar and new decoration. It's really exciting. When we open we will have a brand new menu (served on new plates!) and delicious drinks (in new glasses!) We're really looking forward to seeing you at our new bar, The Distiller's Arms. We will reopen towards the end of January.

The Good Sport is now closed. This page will close in the next few days too.

The best day of the year at The Good Sport! New menu day 💥 We have got some amazing, creative, vibrant food for you this summer. ☀️

1. Seared broccoli steak served with spinach, spiced roasted vegetables & a tahini yogurt (vegan & GF) 🥦

2. Garlic & lemon confit chicken served with feta, sautéed new potatoes, spinach, greens beans & a roasted tomato sauce (GF) 🍗

4. Beetroot risotto topped with grilled goat's cheese & rocket (V) 🐐
