In a world of social media where all too often we have seen comments such as "I'm sure I wouldn't be welcome there 🤣" and in light of other local hospitality venues having to make statements we have written a little something...
Pubs are not left or right.
They are not political headquarters, and they are not campaign offices.
They are community spaces.
A proper pub is one of the few places left where people with completely different views can sit in the same room, share a joke, talk about football, play pool or darts, raise a glass to celebrate, raise a glass to commiserate — or just raise a glass.
That is what pubs are for.
There is a reason the old rule says no politics and no religion in pubs.
It is because, in a pub, all differences should be left at the door.
A pub is about being together, not being apart.
You might vote differently. You might believe different things. But in the pub, you are just a customer, a neighbour, a regular, a friend — or someone who might become one.
It’s not that politics and religion don’t matter.
They do.
But people matter more.
And in the pub, everyone is welcome — not because we all agree, but because we don’t have to.
