Our Story

“Tiger’s Eye” is Gloucester’s first “Hot Rock Grill” restaurant occupying the two floors of “Old Bell” a listed Inn dating back to the 17th Century has been serving locals and visitors of Gloucester since founded in 2008.

Our neighbours “Costa Coffee“ occupy the ground floor. The Cocktail Bar, locally known as the Oak Bar is famous for the ‘Best Mojitos in Town’. The bar also houses a superbly preserved ornate, Grade 1 listed, carved fire surround, dating from 1650 and is oak panelled throughout.

Our intimate 50-seat restaurant, which serves the “Hot Rock Grill” Menu with an “Asian Twist” is a contemporary styled dining space with a relaxed feeling to it.

“The Hot Rock Grill” is a unique, delicious, healthy interactive dining experience. This Menu offers a selection of grill items including Angus Sirloin, Duck breast and Lamb. Also artisan meats, for example, Kangaroo, Buffalo or Zebra to name a few.

The Hot Rock sears in all the natural juices, flavours and nutrients. All our produce is trimmed of fat and no oils are used in the cooking process. Simply place your steak, or one or two bite sized portions of your chosen meal onto the heated lava rock to sear, at your leisure, to your desired taste.

Diners can eat in the restaurant, which is ideal for larger tables, or you can choose one of the tables in the bar area. Our mixologists will prepare a cocktail from our magnificent cocktail menu or simply pour a pint of craft draught ale for you. On warmer days we welcome you to use our outdoor seating on the roof terrace or al-fresco street side. Our staff will advise on local events and places to visit. We host a variety of weekly events, Live Music, Stand Up comedy, Open Mic and DJ nights.

There is hardly a better experience of dining in the ancient Roman city of Glevum (Gloucester), where the preserved history of 17th-century architecture and millennia-old method of cooking on hot rocks is combined with an unpretentious gourmet style of cookery with an Asian twist.

The Tiger’s Eye Restaurant team also caters for private events and functions. The top floor houses another oak panelled bar (The Green Room), available for private hire, a game and lounge space with cinema and the roof terrace with dedicated smoking space.
