Time for another instalment of “Meet The Team”.

This time we meet Josh, who joined part time at the back end of last year and has quickly become a core part of the squad. He’s impressed us a lot this year; soaking up all the knowledge he can like a tall, dark, rugby playing, West Ham supporting, cockney sponge. Over to you mate:

Favourite Our House Memory: Our first staff social. It was great to get everyone together outside of work for food and drinks and properly get to know the team. It really helped me feel part of the Our House family.

Live music at Our House this evening plus a sold out Portuguese tasting later this month has prompted me to go rummaging around the cellar to find something new for the specials board… and I think I’ve found the perfect wine for it.*

This beautiful Portuguese banger is going on the board this evening and goes perfectly with our cheeseboards. Plus, because I’m feeling generous, you can have it as part of the ‘two glasses of wine and a cheeseboard for £25’ deal.

Does being asked to choose a wine for the table fill you with dread?

Sometimes wine lists can look like double-dutch.
Sometimes you want to be able to answer the question of “what shall we order” with more than just red or white.
Sometimes, you just want to know which section of the supermarket shelves to head to.

If you are interested in wine, but have very little experience or knowledge of what you like, then this is the evening for you.

We will pick five wines from across the spectrum to try, and talk you through the basics of each, along with styles that you might like depending on which you enjoy the most.

No question is too basic, no knowledge level too low; we just want to help you make better wine choices and enjoy wines with a little more understanding.

We will talk wine styles, pricing, prestige, etiquette and pairings all whilst enjoying 5 glasses of the good stuff, so that the next time the in-laws ask you what you’d like to drink, you have an answer!

We work really hard, but have a limited budget for marketing outside of what we do on social media and events.

We have relied heavily on word of mouth for our growth over the last couple of years, but something that is always hugely appreciated is when our amazing customers nominate us for awards.

Winning these awards makes an enormous difference to the amount of people who are able to discover us, and help make sure we are still here this time next year! We know that we are hidden away, so it’s a testament to the supporters that we have that so many people find us every week, but we would still love more people to find out about us and get to try a sparkling red for the first time.

Giveaway Time!

British Rosè week was last week, so as usual we are a little late to the party. However, we are making up for our lateness in a big way.

Not only have we just managed to buy a bunch of *in our honest opinion* the best English Rosè wine that money can buy; but we are also making it available by the glass until it runs out to give the most people possible the chance of trying.

Made by our favourite sparkling wine producers just up the road from Our House, this is one that makes you proud of being from Gloucestershire.

But, if that wasn’t enough to get excited about, we also have two tours and tastings of Dryhill Vineyard to give away - worth £100!
Trust us when we say, if you like our wine tastings, you will love the Dryhill experience with Nigel and Lesley-Anne, they are true gems of the wine industry.

To enter is simple, tag the person that you would take with you and both follow us and to be in with a chance of winning.
You can also double up your entries by coming in and buying a glass/bottle of Slippery Slope Rosè and popping your email address on the bill/receipt. All entries will be put onto paper and drawn (live) from a wine bucket once the last glass is sold!

This beauty is going onto the specials board this evening, and will *hopefully* be available all weekend. Made from Pinot Noir and Pinor Meunier grapes (two of the classic Champagne grapes) expect a light, fruity, delicious summer Rosè.

There’s been a murder at Our House!

For the first time ever, the incredible London based Interrupt The Routine are coming to Gloucester to deliver a 1920’s themed Murder Mystery, complete with four themed cocktails and sharing boards.

Set in 1929 England, you will be tasked with solving the murder of the English-American publishing giant Richard Smith. Smith is found dead in his idyllic countryside home shortly before the cocktail reception and banquet at the launch of his new Rockerfeller-funded literary house is due to start at the same venue.

Between the clues being given out by your Interrupt The Routine host, our team will also be making you four classic 1920’s cocktails and serving sharing boards of cheese and charcuterie (veg options available). It goes without saying, of course, that themed dressing up is encouraged (although not mandatory) and our team will be getting involved in that!

There is no minimum or maximum group size, so get your outfit planned, your thinking cap on and buckle up, as this is going to be one of the most exciting and unique events we’ve ever hosted.

Lovely couple of wines going on the specials board this weekend including a Rouge Clair; a light red wine served slightly chilled. A lesser spotted but very delicious southern French wine that is just right for this time of year.

Anybody who came to our Spanish wine tasting will recognise the Paso a Paso Blanco, a Macabeo, Verdejo, SB blend which was so popular we couldn’t say goodbye for good.

You guys spoke with your orders; our biggest selling wine on the specials board so far this year has been an Appassimento Primitivo, so we have decided to add one to the menu full time.

As of today we have this beautiful drop available by the glass, carafe and bottle. Expect bold flavours of cherry, raspberry and redcurrant from this Italian powerhouse.

As you probably know by now, we try to regularly change our House Cocktail Menu. The classics stay the same (although we have now added French 75s and Peach Bellinis to the menu), but we are always working on new ones for the House Section.

However, we thought it was about time we revisited our best performing cocktails from the last 18 months or so to see whether we can crown a clear champion. So, the next time you drop in, you will see some old favourites.

We’re going to keep track of the sales of each one and after a couple of months we will have a winner, and we’ll let you know what the overall top cocktail is before we start again with five more.

So, come on down and show your support to your favourite cocktail if you see it on there! (From tomorrow).

Oh, and also, we listened to you and added a Primitivo to the House Wines menu for a while, so come and enjoy a wine flight and see whether you can work out which one it is!
