Absolute shambles…surely in the 12 months these works will take, someone could’ve built us a bridge directly from Coatbridge to the Showcase so our lovely regulars can reach us?
We look forward to these traffic lights being installed in time for the clocks going back, but we won’t hold our breath 😡
🚧 Bargeddie Roundabout – Project Update 🚧
I want to give residents an update on the ongoing works at the Bargeddie roundabout replacement project.
As many of you will be aware, the project has experienced significant delays. When the works were first outlined to me, I was advised that there would be two phases of three months (around six months in total), starting in October last year.
However, during my most recent discussion with officers at North Lanarkshire Council, I was informed that the project may now run until October this year before completion.
Whilst I understand that delays in a project of this scale can happen, a delay of this magnitude requires further explanation. For that reason, I have referred the project to the Scrutiny team at North Lanarkshire Council, with the intention that a full report is presented to the next meeting of the Audit and Scrutiny Panel in August.
I have asked that this report sets out:
* The issues that have created the significant delays
* Any cost implications
* What lessons can be learned to prevent similar issues in future
I fully appreciate how frustrating this situation is for residents, drivers and local businesses who have been dealing with disruption far longer than expected. The community deserves clarity, accountability and a realistic timeline.
