We’re delighted to announced that Jamie Dunlop will join us as our new, permanent Chief Executive from 30 November 2026.

Jamie joins Humanist Society from the Scottish Youth Parliament, where he has been Chief Executive since 2023 after eight years as Deputy. Jamie brings nearly twenty years in the charity sector, a strong track record in income generation, policy development experience, and government relations. He is steeped in charitable governance and financial sustainability. Jamie is also a trustee of Dynamic Earth and sits on the Executive Committee of the CLD Standards Council for Scotland.

Jamie says: “I’m delighted to be joining Humanist Society Scotland as its new Chief Executive. The Society does vital work in promoting humanist values, championing human rights and campaigning for a fairer and more equal Scotland.

“I look forward to listening, learning and understanding what matters most to our celebrants, members, board and staff. Together, we can build on the Society’s strengths, increase our impact and deliver an ambitious vision for the future. I bring a values-led, member-focused approach, alongside experience of leading organisations through complex governance and change, and I can’t wait to get started.”

John Paul Fitzpatrick and Jennifer Buchan, co-chairs of the Humanist Society board of trustees state: “Jamie has been selected for this post on the basis of his passion for our organisation’s agenda and his extensive professional skills and experience of charity governance. We are looking forward to working with Jamie to make Scotland a more rational, compassionate, and fair-minded country.”

This was before I even did the ceremony for Martin & Vicki.
I knew from the ceremony chat that these two were 100 decibels, 100mph, and their wedding day DID NOT disappoint…. ❤️❤️❤️

SUPPLIER SHOUTOUT!
Today I worked with one of my brides - she is also a content creator and I realised that I have done that FOUR times now… that is such a thrill - that people who see loads of weddings want me is a real compliment and not one I take lightly - but it got me thinking - I see the same people time and again and I think it’s because my couples choose the same “vibes” but even if I haven’t worked with them before - if they want you to have the best day then I’m probably going to like them - so, when choosing your photo/video/content/music - price and product matter of course, but also, look out for the ones that make you laugh, that make you feel relaxed, before you have even booked them - trust me; it’ll pay off!

I couldn’t post everyone I wanted to - but trust me when I tell you these see some of the best in the business*

I have never been so glad I trusted my gut and politely declined the enquiry to get involved with this.
Nothing against reality TV, give me a wee dose of Selling Sunset now and again - but I’m all about celebrating your relationship - and that is impossible to do if you have never met…..!

Channel 4 was aware of one of the r**e claims before broadcast, but the woman involved still featured in the show.

So this bad boy high viz was rocked out again tonight (although I’m definitely more village people than “workie” in it!!)
Big shout out to M&S Crow Road who donated a full trolley of food, 9 crates of bread, cakes and pastries, and 3 trolleys of flowers!
£650 worth of flowers and probably £1000 worth of food all saved from landfill!
5 hostels - with somewhere in the region of 75 residents all got food - ready to eat, fresh, vegetables, pastries, and flowers!

Being at today reminded me that I hadn’t posted about Sam and Daniel’s absolutely AMAZING wedding day!

I knew there were some “new to Humanism” guests in the crowd but when I came back from seeing Sam before we started and the whole room was doing an impromptu singalong to Robbie Williams I knew I was in for a good day!!

These two pictures captured by one of the best in the business - the lanky photo ninja show what your ceremony really can be - howl til your sides hurt, cry with the joy of celebrating your love with your nearest and dearest - and I am 💯 in my conviction to NEVER doing homework. It is toooooo BORING, and I don’t want you to write for me, I don’t want to “paste” your content into a template - come to my house and TELL me your story - trust me, it will be worth it ❤️❤️❤️
