We just wanted to let you all know that it looks like Alston Bar and Beef will remain closed until July, and that’s us being optimistic 😢.
As you’ll be aware, the fire on Union St has caused significant disruption to the area surrounding Glasgow Central, and as we are within the exclusion zone, we’re not going to get into the building for quite some time. We understand that works to stabilise the gable wall next door are expected to continue until early July, and if that timetable changes, we’ll keep you updated.
We really appreciate the continued support, patience, and understanding from our customers and the wider community. Rest assured we are keeping busy, and Alston will come back bigger and better than ever with some exciting announcements coming for “Alston 2.0”.🥩🍷

Well, we still don’t have any real updates for you all since Alston, along with Gordon St Coffee and a few other businesses, still remain in the exclusion zone. It looks like we’ll be among the last businesses able to gain access, so we’re waiting patiently for the go-ahead. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can see the bar and restaurant for ourselves, fingers crossed.
The good news is that we were allowed into our storage rooms, which are in a separate part of Central Station. The team got dressed up for the occasion 🤣 and made a start on clearing out the space, so at least that’s one job done (and hopefully never to be repeated!).

It’s great to see Central Station has partially reopened, and we hope to see more train services back up and running next week.

Alston remains within the exclusion zone, so no one has been able to gain access. As a result, we still don’t know the extent of any damage to our bar and restaurant but we’re hoping to learn more next week and will keep you all updated.

A cut above the rest? We certainly think so! 🔪🥩

Alston Bar & Beef has entered into the Best Steakhouse category at the Entertainment Awards. We love what we do, but we couldn’t do it without our amazing guests, and although we’re currently closed, we hope to welcome you back soon!

So if you’ve enjoyed a meal with us recently, we’d be so grateful for your vote. Let’s bring it home for Glasgow! ❤️
