Any excuse for a wee day out, the team were lucky enough to have a tour of the Distillery this week and try a dram straight from the cask. Mairead even got to have a go of her dream job as a Cooper.

A sweet and smashable summer dram, goes perfectly with a Tennents. £4 quid all month. See ya soon?

Friday feels here in the Gallowgate.
👉Tonight } Nae gig but exemplary drinks, toasties and high fives all night from 4pm.
👉Saturday } tomorrow night so get booked in.

When one door closes… 🚪💛

You probably noticed we have replaced our infamous yellow door. After 7 years we felt it was time for a change.

With this, we thought it only right it goes to a good home. Steven and Marion are day 1 regulars and the best humans ever, and we are delighted they are taking it home! 🏠

Didn’t think we could get emotional about a door, but it’s welcomed so many amazing people as the new one will do also ❤️🥺.

📖 Story Time 🎨

This first photo was taken in the 1860s at 251 Gallowgate — the very spot we now call home.

The gentleman pictured is James McElhinney, who ran a provisions shop here over 150 years ago.

In a mad twist of fate, his great-great-grandson Mark Armstrong works just next door at the … and brought this photo to our door.

While renovating the frontage, we uncovered layers of Gallowgate history — ghost signs from past lives, including The Civic and Murray’s.

We knew then it was our job to bring it back to life.

Massive shoutout to the legends at for an amazing job to restore a piece of the building’s story.

Old and new, side by side — that’s what we’re about.

Please excuse our appearance over the next several days while we refurbish our frontage.

Things we have found so far…
- 4 layers of plywood
- 1 pack of 80’s Regal Kingsize Ci******es
- A window we didn’t know we had
- A Ghost sign on the original stonework

Back open tonight from 4pm and business as usual 🍹 🍻

⚡️ New Bevs 🍸

Our wee squad have been behind the scenes building something special for our 2026 menu — There has been a Public House here at 251 Gallowate since 1826 when a man named James Reid took on the licence (Yip, Its our bicentenary). So we wanted to created a menu inspired by a sense of place and the stories that helped build our wee part of Glasgow.

🤫 No full reveals yet… where’s the fun in that?
