Nightshift! 🌓🥃

It’s Friday and we are ready for ya! So here’s another belter from our Tales of the Gallowgate menu.

Highland Park 12 / Butter / Coffee / Malted Maple / Chocolate / Frosted Shreddies

Not everyone knows that most pubs in this area have or once had an 8am licence harking back to the days of fruitmarket night shift workers in the area. The licence does however come with one caveat, food must be served alongside any drinks purchased. The shared breakfast roll or pub piece of toast became the stuff of legends, as the food ‘purchased’ would be passed around any patrons should the polis pop by. 👮

BIG SANDWICHES. BIG FLAVOUR. BIG ONIONS! 🧅

On the 8th and 9th August weekend we’re handing our wee kitchen over to talented chef Luther Hall and his new Pop-up concept, The Big Onion.

Over the last couple of years Luther has developed a deep love for Turkish food with his own signature style. The menu is dropping soon but expect...

🥙 Homemade onion pide stuffed to the brim.
🐑 Slow-cooked harissa & date lamb shoulder.
🐟 Green chilli & herb mackerel.
🌱 Crispy mushroom & lentil kofte.
🔥 Smoky dips, fermented hot sauce, preserved veg and plenty of things you’ll want to mop up with bread.

We’ll be doing what we do best behind the bar. Cocktails, pints and good tunes.

🌮 Gate - To - Go 🔜

☀️ This summer at the Gate means takeaway bevs and also some amazing food every weekend from our brand new Gate - To - Go takeaway hatch!
After finding a hidden window while doing up the frontage we knew it was the right thing to do.

📣You know we love a wee collaboration and have some belters lined up but we want more! So this is call out to any inspiring chefs or brands that would like to takeover the space for the weekends. Getting tagging who you’d like to see doon the Gallowgate troops 🫡

Was our pleasure to launch Jaywalk Rye Whiskey from New York Distilling Company into Scotland with Loch Lomond Malts , with the help of our amazing pals The Hideout.

🥃 It ain’t Scotch 😉 but it definitely bangs and has our stamp of approval. Rye Cocktails from Hideout and food from the amazing Chris Mears is always gonna win 🥇

And since we’re taking about America…MON THE SCOTLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿!!!!!

🥃 Malt of the Month for June : Glasgow Distillery 1770 Original ⛅️

Any excuse for a wee day out, the team were lucky enough to have a tour of the Distillery this week and try a dram straight from the cask. Mairead even got to have a go of her dream job as a Cooper.

A sweet and smashable summer dram, goes perfectly with a Tennents. £4 quid all month. See ya soon?

Weekend face 🌞

Friday feels here in the Gallowgate.
👉Tonight } Nae gig but exemplary drinks, toasties and high fives all night from 4pm.
👉Saturday } tomorrow night so get booked in.
🧐Sunday } Our monthly quiz is back on from 6pm with oor with some unreal prizes along with £8 bevs and £5 toasties all day.

When one door closes… 🚪💛

You probably noticed we have replaced our infamous yellow door. After 7 years we felt it was time for a change.

With this, we thought it only right it goes to a good home. Steven and Marion are day 1 regulars and the best humans ever, and we are delighted they are taking it home! 🏠

Didn’t think we could get emotional about a door, but it’s welcomed so many amazing people as the new one will do also ❤️🥺.
