It’s time to say goodbye ❤️
Many of you first knew us as Brutti, and maybe later came to love us as Small Plates (Ugly Mates). No matter what name was on the door, we’ve always been a place that celebrated love, friendship, food and togetherness.
From day one, our aim was to be a little slice of holiday at home — somewhere you could switch off, linger a little longer, and always feel welcome. Looking back, we feel incredibly proud of what we’ve built and the memories shared within these walls over the years.
Like so many independent businesses across the UK, the current economic climate has made things incredibly challenging. This decision hasn’t come easily, but it comes with nothing but gratitude for what we’ve shared and what we’ve achieved together.
We’ve had many amazing staff come and go, each bringing their own quirks, personalities. This place was never just bricks and tables — it was the people who made it what it was, and we couldn’t have done any of this without them.
To our wonderful owners, Stephen and Michael — truly a pair of Glasgow legends. Your vision, passion and support shaped everything we became.
And to our incredible customers and supporters — thank you. Thank you for your loyalty, your kindness and for choosing us for first dates, birthday celebrations, long lunches, catch-ups with friends, and so many unforgettable moments in between. Being part of your stories has meant more to us than we can ever say.
As we close this chapter, we’d love to hear your memories, stories and favourite moments in the comments below. ❤️
Keep an eye on this page as it transforms into the next chapter of brutti 👀
