Alison Cotton is a London based composer, vocalist, and multi instrumentalist whose music centres on viola, harmonium, and layered vocal drones. Originally from Sunderland, she first emerged in the UK underground in bands including Saloon, The Eighteenth Day of May, and more recently, The Left Outsides before beginning her solo career in 2018.
Cotton continues to explore drone, experimental folk, and narrative forms, establishing
herself as a singular voice in contemporary experimental music.

“Alison Cotton’s music speaks of places, people and stories not quite of this world,
while orchestrating folk and drone elements meticulously, as if following an arcane
ritual” – The Wire

Colossal Letdown is the drone/noise/ambient solo project of Lanark-based musician Charlie Butler. Over a number of sold out tape releases on Eggy Tapes, Brachliegen Tapes, Rat Run Records and Luddite Tapes, Colossal Letdown has explored a wide spectrum of weird sounds ranging from harsh walls of static to minimal crackly drones.

A band with taiko at its heart, Painted X-Ray* are taiko (Japanese drums—Alison Roe, Yumi Célia), guitar (Jer Reid), bass (Ali Begbie) and violin (Rafe Fitzpatrick): skins and strings basically.

Painted X-Ray are based in Glasgow and have toured around the UK, including the 1 in 12 Club’s 30th birthday party in Bradford, the Celtic Connections and European Championships festivals of 2018 in Glasgow, and in the beautiful Pianodrome in Edinburgh’s botanic gardens as part of the 2018 Fringe festival. Painted X-Ray were also one of 12 Glasgow music acts selected to take part in the British Council’s ‘Mix the City‘ project, launched in the UK in 2018.

Painted X-Ray have shared bills with The Ex, King Ayisoba, Kathryn Joseph, RM Hubbert, Sound of Yell, Barbara Morgenstern, Daikiri and FK Alexander (amongst others) and share a collective rehearsal space at On The Corner studio in Glasgow’s East End with several bands including The Gymnastic Band, Current Affairs, Joyce Delaney and Gift Horse.
