Tomorrow (Sat 12th Sep) I’m flogging some records at Phillies of Shawlands in Shawlands. Random mish-mash of spares, bargains, classics - everything from Abba to Zombies. The £5 album and £1 single boxes are pretty full.

“Sixteen Shades Of Green”

Vinyl erotica, like Fifty Shades Of Grey for the record collector. 😂 A recent post asked if there was a Pantone colour for KPM library albums, so I (naturally) listened. Hard to tell if these started off as the same colour and have gradually faded over the years. On quite a few the white border has yellowed, but would that cause the green to become more like olive green than British racing green?

Anyway, my guess would be Pantone 5743 or 2308 (solid colours on the left). And, yes, I know you want to know what the albums are and the answer is… the 16 rarest, most in-demand ones… 😎

Primal Scream play XTRMNTR for three nights at the Barrowlands, so what better excuse to host (unofficial) pre- and post-parties in McChuills - everyone’s favourite underground sub-culture supporting boozer.

TONIGHT (Saturday) in McChuills I’ll be spinning a selection of post-punk, northern-soul, dub-reggae, proto-disco, early-house, garage-punk and psych records - selections which run through Primal Scream‘s musical DNA. So it’s basically business as usual, smattered with deep cuts from their back catalogue. I’ll be joined early doors by Jules Boyle who’s threatening to play Charli XCX and Einsturzende Neubauten (and if you don’t believe me, ask to see his tattoos). Don’t anyone doubt the night will be eclectic...

Quite timely since I'll shortly be packing the box for tomorrow night's Divine...

I think despite its manic tempo, mine would probably be Jackie Wilson's "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher". At least that's my answer today!
