Hey all you winers! Long time, no see?

In case any of you have a free Friday night and are feeling nostalgic for the old Wine Club days, we have had some spaces open up at this Friday's Cellar Sessions at Stravaigin.

6 wines, 3 courses, 1 epic showdown. Your hero and friendly neighborhood sommelier looks to defend his honor against a former friend and colleague (I know we went for a Cowboy/Western theme, but it really has a lot of Vader v. Obi Wan vibes...).

Head over to https://stravaigin.co.uk/cellar-sessions-volume-13/ for more info and to snag your table. Or just phone them, we still do that occasionally, right? 0141 334 2665

Hope to see you there!

Hello,

My name is Rachel and I work at Ubiquitous Chip sorry things have been a little quiet on here, but we are back! We have a newly appointed head Sommelier Dan Dorsett and I’m incredibly excited to be brining you his first event of many. We have a wonderful evening of wines, food and entertainment planned.

Beaujolais Nouveau!

Chip’s own Beaujolais Vermouth arrival drink & Three Course Menu of French classics with accompanying wines.

We all so have live music from the incredible Romacaleo.

What is Beaujolais Nouveau?

An annual party to celebrate the end of the harvesting season in Beaujolais (Burgundy). Growers would get together to toast the vintage and drink into the night.
The traditional slogan for this day is "Le Beaujolais nouveau est arrivé!"

"The new Beaujolais has arrived!

Our Sommeliers have a passion for wine like no other. This event is guaranteed to be memorable, informative, delicious, but above all else, fun!

Thanks again to everyone who came out last night to taste some “Wines that are saving the world!” I know Super Somm enjoyed himself and wanted to congratulate the Mystery Wine winners!

Stay tuned for the next Wine Club theme for 26th March...

A much belated “thank you” to everyone that came to Beaujolais Wine Club in November. I think we managed a few converts to the wonderful possibilities of the Gamay grape!

Be sure to keep some of the Beaujolais Cru wines like Fleurie in mind when picking your Christmas dinner wines, it pairs amazingly with turkey!

Check back with us for some other recommendations for Christmas and Hogmanay wines, and for the theme of January’s wine club!

In the meantime, enjoy this ridiculous photo of Marshall in his Beaujolais-purple Prince/Weird Al costume!

THURSDAY 25 JULY:
Dessert Wine Club!

If dessert is the best part of the meal, why wouldn’t you put some consideration into what you’re drinking?

Dessert wine pairings are an exciting yet frequently overlooked part of a meal, and more often than not most people will just stay on whatever wine they were having with the main course. While there is an argument to be had for some red wines and dark chocolate, most dry wines are rendered harsh and acidic by the sugar levels in your favourite puddings. The golden rule is “the wine must be sweeter than the dessert.”

Join Marshall and the gang for a sweet adventure through the creamy and sugar crusted world of dessert wines, puddings and cheeses and learn why everyone should have at least one little bottle of something sweet stashed in their fridge.

And please don’t tell Marshall “I don’t like sweet wines.” He gets a little touchy on the subject...

2 weeks left until VEGAN WINE CLUB!!

Finally my Vegan friends can rejoice that there is a wine club for them where they don't have to be afraid to ask "Is this wine Vegan friendly?" or have a course changed only to find out the wine pairing no longer works!

You don't have to be vegan to come to this wine club, but you will have to bring your own bacon.

The hat is coming back!

There’s still a few spots left at our Over the Wall Wine Club next week, on location at Stravaigin, where we will be exploring the booming wine industry that is thriving south of the US border.

With the “Blue Wave” hardly making a splash and the country literally burning, there’s no time to waste ensuring we are on the right side of Trump’s Wall when it goes up....

I mean, wine... we are just drinking some wine...

*Be sure to register for wine club legally as gate crashers may be subject to detention*

Mother Nature is getting us ready for Wine Club next Thursday, where the topical topic is WIND!

For the final chapter of our Elemental Winemaking Series, we will be blowing through the topic of wind and wine. While it may seem a bit of a stretch compared to our other topics, wind actually plays a huge role in a vineyard with some of the best wines in the world relying on strong wind streams that cleanse the area of stagnant air and reduce the risk of disease on the vines.

Some areas (like Greece's Santorini) have to weave the vines around the trunks to protect from unrelenting wind. Join Marshall and the gang as they taste through the fruits of the labour of renowned wind streams like the Rhone's Mistral and South Africa's Cape Doctor.

Thanks everyone for a great wine club last week!

Next month, we are back into our Elemental Series with our third instalment. This month we are focusing on Fire (or at least the heat and light that comes from that fire) and how it plays a part in the life of both grape and vine.

Join Marshall and the gang for an enlightening look at how temperature in a vineyard effects the style of wine made and techniques used to protect grapes from sunburn (hint: they don’t use sunscreen).
