After 21yrs as owner of the Crofter Bar & Restaurant in fort William, the time has come to say goodbye. I have officially sold the pub to Mr Paul Gillies, who I wish all the very best under his custodianship.

The memories, trials, tribulations and achievements over all those years will never fade.

Over the years, I’ve been supported by amazing staff who I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart. Special mention to Jamie Stephen who has been with me for all of the 21yrs.
Donna MacLennan who has been my faithful second in command for 16yrs.

To the punters and customers of Fort William. It’s been an absolute privilege. The friendships and bonds I’ve made over the years will last a lifetime.

And lastly to my wife Anthea Monk for being my rock and always being by my side during the good times and bad times.

Fort William it’s been an honor, over and out🥃

Water has been retuning slowly and we will be able to open again.

Unfortunately we have no running water due to a Scottish Water issue, we have no option but to close until this is resolved.

It’s official

After years of speculation and rumour around the town and after I was approached late in 2024 about the potential sale of my business, it got me thinking.

I feel that Business is getting more and more tedious and having given it a lot of thought and numerous sleepless nights, I have come to the conclusion that maybe now is the right time for me.
Therefore I have decided that 2025 will be the start of the end of the journey for me at the Crofter and I will actively start the sales process to find a new owner for the Crofter.
I feel the time is right to hand over the reins to owners with fresh energy and ideas.
I have given my heart and soul into building the Crofter into the successful award winning business it is today and will continue to do that until the day comes to step foot out the door.
We as publicans are merely custodians of an establishment, with those who have come before me in the Crofter and those who will come in after me and as I said earlier, I feel it is time to hand over those reins.
I could not have achieved what I have achieved at the Crofter without the hard work and dedication of the team at the Crofter and I see them as part of my extended family.
