Bennetts Navy Tavern is one of the oldest established business in Pembrokeshire.Pre-Victorian came into being in the reign of George 1V.Bennett's were wine importers with a distribution network over most of Pembrokeshire.Bennett's Tavern was originally an off licence with wines and spirits being bottled and blended on the premises which then included the Tag Mahal Indian restaurant.Bennett's were the largest land and property owners in North Pembrokeshire. In 1978 the Bennett's Tavern was converted into a large open plan bar and restaurant.Since that time the business has passed through quite a few owners since the time of Mr George Bennett. In 1991 the business closed for the first time in its history. In 1993 Peter & Christine Lloyd bought and reopened Bennett's.The premises at that time had deteriorated and required almost a total renovation of the interior.Peter & Christine are now in their 21st year at Bennett's and have added many new features including two extensions and a beer garden. Many people ask why the term NAVY in Bennett's Navy Tavern. Its due to Peter Lloyd grandfather who was licensee of the Navy Tavern in Pembroke Dock.It also created the Navy theme in the pub and array of historic pictures of the history of the Royal Navy.
