💚FAREWELL FOR NOW FROM BLACKFIELD & LANGLEY SPORTS BAR💚
As of now, the Blackfield & Langley Sports Bar is officially closed.
It’s difficult to put into words just how heartbreaking that is for all of us. This bar has been so much more than four walls and somewhere to have a drink. It has been a meeting place, a community, a place full of laughter, friendship, celebrations, fundraising, dancing, memories and some truly unforgettable nights.
We also want to be clear that this was not a decision we wanted to make. Unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding the closure have been out of our hands, and that makes saying goodbye to this chapter even harder.
Over the years, so many people have given their time, energy and heart to making the Sports Bar what it became.
We would like to give a massive thank you to Stuart for all the work done behind the scenes from emails, meetings, phone calls to messages, it was a very stressful role to play but your hard work was very appreciated. Syd you have been a rock for the club so a massive thank you to you too. Also thank you to Sam and Ryan that attended meetings and helped in every way possible 💚
We want to give a very special thank you to Jade, who has put an unbelievable amount of time, effort and dedication into running the bar. So much of what goes into keeping a place like this going is never seen by the people walking through the doors, and Jade has carried so much of that responsibility. We cannot thank her enough for everything she has done.
We also want to give a huge shout-out to Jade, Kal, Sam, Del, Ryan, Stu, Tony, Zoe and Jemma and many others who gave up so many hours of their own time to help get the bar ready for our events.
From setting up and decorating, to organising, cleaning, preparing and making sure everything was just right, those nights would not have been the same without you. You gave your time because you cared about the bar, the club and the people who came through the doors, and that will never be forgotten.
To all of our staff and committee members past and present, thank you for every shift, every late night, every busy evening and every bit of hard work you put in.
Massive thank you to Barry for running the Red 7 and Massive thank you to Ian and Tanya for running the Bingo and making our Sunday afternoons lots of fun 💚
Thank you to Matthew marshall for doing the karaoke to see us out 🙌🏻🎤 what a great night had by everyone.
To the committee, thank you for your support over the years.
And to every single customer, friend and supporter who came through our doors — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Whether you came in for a quiet drink, joined us for for bingo joined us for a disco, laughed your way through a Mr & Mrs night, bought tickets for the Christmas raffles, supported the CoppaFeel! breast cancer awareness night, attended one of our charity events or simply popped in to see a familiar face, you were part of what made the bar special.
Some of our proudest memories will always be the events we were able to put on and the money and awareness we were able to raise for good causes. So thank you to everyone who supported us, contributed and thank you to all the businesses that donated prizes for our raffles.
There were so many more things we wanted to do.
More karaoke
More Red 7
More Bingo
More Mr & Mrs nights.
More discos.
More Christmas raffles.
More CoppaFeel! nights.
More charity events.
More nights bringing people together.
But they are only on hold.
Because as painful as it is to close these doors, we refuse to believe this is the end of the story.
We hope that one day we will have a new place to call home, and when that day comes, we cannot wait to open the doors again, welcome familiar faces back, meet new ones and bring back all of the events and nights that made the Sports Bar what it was.
There will be people we have met through this bar who have become friends for life. There are memories made inside those walls that we will carry with us forever.
That is something nobody can take away from us.
So this isn’t goodbye.
It’s goodbye for now.
Thank you for every drink bought, every ticket purchased, every event supported, every laugh, every conversation, every memory and every moment you shared with us.
We truly hope that the next time we’re writing a post like this, it will be to tell you that Blackfield & Langley Sports Bar is back. 💚
Until then, from all of us…
Thank you for everything.
We’ll miss the bar. We’ll miss the nights. But most of all, we’ll miss all of you.
Hopefully we’ll see you again soon, raising a glass together in our new home. 🍻💚
