Whisky Fractions

Whisky Fractions Whisky fractions is a simple concept. By dividing rare bottles and casks into equal fractions we create an investment opportunity that everyone can afford.

'As the value of whiskey is largely dependent on the number of bottles produced and sold to market, this fall in production will increase the value of whiskey produced in 2020. The fall in supply and excess demand means the alcohol produced this year will become increasingly rarer in the years to come.'

With more whisky distilleries than Scotland, it should be no surprise that Germany is producing some quality single malts. They also strongly influenced the evolution of American whiskey: "The Jim Beam family came from Germany, as did George Dickel, the great producer of Tennessee whiskey. The Stitzel-Weller distillery — maker of such well-known brands as Pappy Van Winkle, W.L. Weller and Old Weller — was founded by German immigrants, as was the old I.W. Harper distillery near Louisville, Ky."

Germany may be known for its beer, but it is also home to some 250 whiskey producers, almost twice as many as in Scotland.

Japanese whiskies are now among the most collectable in the world, in large part because of this:
"...on 31 December 2000 Karuizawa Distillery was mothballed and closed its doors for the last time. The following year a 12 year old Karuizawa was awarded Gold at London’s IWSC and marked the beginning of Japanese whisky’s rise to global popularity."

F ounded in the 1950s, Karuizawa was a distillery whose future was always uncertain, not least because it was located at the foot of the active volcano, Mount Asama, Nagano Prefecture in the very centre of Japan’s main island of Honshu (本州).

≪Kurayoshi 12 years scored the highest point at IWC 2020≫
Pure Malt Whisky Kurayoshi 12 years scored the highest point among all the Japanese whisky brands' entries at International Whisky Competition 2020 held in America!

This one is my second favorite of Matsui whisky!

Kenji's personal tasting note for Kurayoshi 12 years
Nose: Rich sweet vanilla aroma and roasted almond
Palate: Toffee, raisin-like sourness, sweet with aroma of toasted wood and a bit smoky too.
Very well-balanced.

Please share your tasting note for this one if you've tried it!

I feel like there are many 12-year-old whisky fans.
Am I the only one?

Kenji

"Once rarely found outside North America, rye whiskey has enjoyed a burst of popularity over the past decade, bringing it international renown. Now, InchDairnie and other Old World distilleries are joining the party. In Scotland and across Europe, whiskey makers are starting to produce their own versions of what was once considered a distinctly American spirit."

Distillers in Scotland and across Europe have started making their own versions of a whiskey long associated with North America.

We talk terroir, traceability and transparency with Mark Reynier from Waterford Distillery and taste the inaugural releases.
