Hemelvaart Bier Cafe is a continental style bier cafe serving food, lots of craft beers from around the world and exciting small batch gins. We try to stock products from small, independent companies so you won't find Tennents, Carlsberg or Coca-Cola here. Owned by John Atkinson and Phil Walker.

Last chance for today...

Amongst the great American brewers we've stocked and supported over the past few years, there's one that's been represented by quality rather than quantity. The likes of Other Half, Treehouse, Trillium, de Garde and Hoppin' Frog have appeared regularly in The Artful Hopster's Live Stream and Prize Draw with many great beers, but there's one I revere just as much...Alesmith from San Diego in California.

So it's with pride that the top prize in this week's draw is one of their classics: Barrel-aged Reserve Private Stock Ale, a bourbon-barreled imperial English-style ale from 2017 coming in at 12.0% abv.. The brewery tasting notes comment:

"Rich with intense notes of toffee, molasses, figs, and dark berries, our critically acclaimed Private Stock Ale is hardy and complex all on its own. But after lengthy hibernation in wood barrels which formerly housed bourbon whiskey, lovely accents of vanilla, toasted oak, and dark caramel meld together making this standout beer all the more extraordinary."

It's good to reach such a climax, as the Live Stream will be taking a break after this weekend. We're in the process of finding a new home, which has to take priority in the next few weeks. There's also a large amount of stock to sell off, details of which will appear here soon.

It's a duo of corkers from two of the best Scottish breweries around at present: Epochal and Holly Goat.
Epochal are represented by 'The Sky Is An Immortal Tent', a barrel-fermented Scottish stock pale ale with Idaho 7 and aged Motueka hops at 6.0%. From Holy Goat we have 'Goatsmoker', a 12.7% smoked imperial stout.

In the week that saw a fitting and heartfelt tribute to a supporter and dear friend of ours in a moving eulogy at , we have selected a beer from a brewery that so impressed Dave and Sue when they visited a few years ago on their 'Alaska Tour'.

The brewery is de Garde, which is tucked away in Tillamook in Oregon, up in the north-west of the USA. The beer is The Samognier, a spontaneous wild ale aged in oak barrels with viognier grapes.

As was done at the eulogy on Thursday, we will be making a donation from the proceeds of the draw this week to Dave and Sue's favourite charity, the cat homing centre.
