Eyam Village Club/Mechanics Institute Eyam Village Club at The Mechanics Institute. A community space in the heart of the village of Eyam The Club itself is a focal point of village activity.

Eyam Village Club is home to a welcoming and hospitable environment. The bar staff are very friendly and are more than happy to offer their assistance to any queries you may have. We pride ourselves on being a family orientated venue that welcomes all ages (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult). It hosts many social events and caters for a variety of sporting and pub teams such as foo

tball, darts, and snooker, as well as being the venue for Bingo (downstairs in the hall) every Friday evening. Over the years, Eyam Village Club has held a range of events and entertainment including;

We also have a "Big Screen" that shows live sporting events! If given enough planning time, we are always happy to hold any events that you may like to hold.

Author Lisa Manterfield Author popped into the museum today to drop off signed copies of her book 'The Smallest Thing', a modern day tale inspired by Eyam's plague history.

Once upon a time, in 1665, a tailor from Eyam ordered a box of materials relating to his trade from London, that he was to make into clothes for the villagers. He unwittingly triggered a chain of events that led to 260 Eyam villagers dying from bubonic plague – more than double the mortality rate suffered by the citizens of London in the Great Plague.

Between the first death and the last, the villagers set an extraordinary and enduring example of self-sacrifice by sealing off the village from the surrounding areas to prevent the disease spreading.
