What a night! Flight Club vs The Exiles (Exmouth Arms) 🎯
What a cracking night! Quick shoutout to The Exiles—proper good team, loads of enthusiasm and top banter all the way through. Great to play against a side that cares! 🎯🍻
Right, onto the action! We kicked things off with Jay Gorman—we thought we’d throw our heavy hitter in first, and he did us proud! Cruised to a 2-0 win and got us off to the perfect start. 1-0 up—job done!
Next up was Carl “Tippy” Thomas. To be honest, we were all a bit worried how he’d get on… but mate, f**k me, he hit absolute rockets! Won 2-1, and suddenly we’re 2-0 up. Safe to say we all ate our words after that performance!
Then came Lee Taylor—now, here’s a funny one… Lee ended up playing against a girl! She gave it a right go, fair play, but let’s just say Lee did just enough to scrape a 2-0 win. Didn’t play his best darts by a mile, got away with one big time, but we’ll take it! 3-0 us.
Doubles time first: Ben & Brad. Now, they definitely had their ringer in for this one! Our boys fought hard—Brad even smashed in a massive 180 that had everyone cheering! Sadly, it wasn’t quite enough, they went down 2-1, so it moved to 3-1. Still, proper effort from both of them.
Next pair: Lee Taylor & Colin Smith. Let’s be real—Colin basically carried Lee through this one! Lee was wandering around like he’d forgotten how to hold a dart, but Colin stepped up big time, dragged them both to a 2-0 win, and suddenly we’re 4-1 up. Just one more needed to seal the deal…
And guess who got the job? Carl Thomas & Karl Hamilton. We all looked at each other thinking “yeah, this is where it ends”—zero expectations, absolutely nothing riding on it… and then they went and played like world champions! Threw absolute belters, stormed to a 2-0 win, and BOOM—we’d won it 5-1! Who saw that coming? Not us!
But wait—we weren’t done yet! Ben stepped up next. Did he play nice? Did he go easy? Absolutely not. He went full “grumpy big brother” mode, bullied his way through the game, ground out a 2-1 win, and left his opponent wondering what on earth just happened. Effective? 100%. Nice? Debatable. 😂
Last game of the night: Brad (our captain, and easily the best thrower we had all night). He was up against their ringer again—round two! Brad played out of his skin, threw some absolute gems, but came up short and lost 2-0. But honestly? We couldn’t be prouder of him. Taking on their best player and giving him a proper game? That’s exactly why he’s our skipper—heart of a lion!
Now… man of the night. Tough call, but there could only be two winners: Carl Thomas & Karl Hamilton. Two lads we thought might just turn up for the beer, who went out there and played like absolute legends. Unbelievable stuff, and proper proof that you should never judge a player before they throw a dart!
Now, looking ahead… In two weeks’ time we’ve got Kings Bandits coming up. We saw them play tonight against the Ball Shooters, and fair play, they played pretty well. But let’s be honest—we all know we can absolutely bully them when we get on that board! And let’s face it… if we don’t smash ’em? It’s not like it’s a pub we’d mind getting banned from anyway! 😂🍻
