Music is a huge part of Orpheus coming up at B**r Quarry Caves next month, so we’re so excited to welcome Sasha Herriman, a singer and actor, to the team. She studied music at Durham and Bristol Universities. She's also worked widely in TV news and entertainment as a presenter on CNN, BBC, Channel 5, Sky and ITV. Sasha is the Artistic Director of The Reduced Opera Company.

This year Four of Swords have a big SURPRISE hidden in the caves that Ellie is helping with… 👀 So we wanted to introduce you to this new member of the Four of Swords team for Orpheus. We asked Ellie to share a photo of themselves making music, and tell us about a piece of music they’ve never forgotten. Swipe to the second slide to hear Ellie’s story 🎵

Ellie is a dedicated freelance vocal coach, choir leader and musical director based in Devon. Her workshops and leadership promote sustainable singing techniques through a fun and inclusive approach. Participants develop their skills and confidence in a welcoming environment whether in a community music session or in one-to-one coaching.

Playfulness and physicality are core elements of Donald’s creative practice. His work has been nominated at the Off West End Theatre Awards 2023 for Best Performance and the Jean Benedetti Award 2016 for Best Actor. He trained between Rose Bruford College in London and ESAD de Murcia in Spain.

First up… Bea 👋

Bea can't wait to return to the caves after joining Four of Swords on Medea, Oedipus and Trista Heb Skovam. Other credits include projects with Sun and Moon, Exeter Northcott, short films and a cinematic video game. Bea is an assistant facilitator and recently trained as a Creative Support Worker through NYT and Exeter Northcott.

We knew Orpheus was going to be special but we didn’t expect such a response… over a month to go and 60% of tickets have gone with shows selling out fast.

ORPHEUS tickets have only been on sale a few days and are already flying out the door! (link in comments)

We've missed making work and it's lovely to know you haven't forgotten us! We can't wait to return to B**r Quarry Caves Official this October...it's going to be a special one.

We are doing things a bit differently this year with ticket pricing...

Things are difficult at the moment, the cost of living is high and arts funding is tight. It’s tough out there for all of us.
In line with what some of our creative friends in the sector are doing we're offering four ticket tiers. Some reflect what it actually costs to bring this show to life in the caves. Others allow those who can give a little more to quietly hold open a door for someone who can't and helps support the future work of our company.
Making this amazing show costs around £30,000 to bring to life. As a non-for-profit company, ticket income helps us pay artists fairly, make ambitious new work and keep theatre accessible.

Patron £45 - Your generosity supports others to attend and enables the development of our future work.
Friend £33 - Paying it forward. Your ticket helps someone else attend.
Standard £25 - Pays the real cost of bringing Orpheus to life.
Community £17 - No one is left behind. The cost of these tickets are supported by Friends and Patrons tickets.
