Just a few of my memories from the three years I was proud to able call myself the landlady of The Barge and Barrel. This page will still be open even though the pub no longer is and it would be lovely to see your memories too. Thank you to everyone who came to our closing night, thank you to everyone who has supported me and the pub through good times and not so good times. We laughed together, we cried together and stood together. I will be forever thankful for each and every one of you and I leave here with a much bigger family than I arrived with as well as some wonderful friends. I’ll keep in touch with everyone I promised to and update this page when the future is more settled and secure. My love and gratitude go out to you all and may God bless you as much as he blessed me when he brought me to Elland. Carolyn (Carrie) ###x ❤️

Tonight is the last quiz. There’s a fabulous free supper, entry to the quiz is free and there is a small cash prize for the winning team. Card Bingo will be played until the jackpot of £50 has been won to wrap up.

The time has come to start posting incidences of ‘the last…’ of things. Sunday the 27th of November is the last time we’ll be serving our very popular Sunday lunches featuring roast salmon cut of beef and roast chicken breast from our great butchers B. Whites and veg from Elland’s own Roots Whole Food Market and our homemade Yorkshire Puddings with tasty gravy. £9 for a full sized lunch and £5 for smaller appetites. We will be serving between 1 and 6pm

Well done to everyone who helped raise £75.92 for the Royal British Legion by buying poppies and all those who donated, raffled and tombola’d last Thursday and helped raise £126 for Overgate Hospice at the Big Pub Quiz! I’m so proud of you all for everything you’ve done these last three years for these two charities. Thank you ❤️

Our Overgate Hospice Quiz is tonight! We have a tombola and a raffle to raise extra funds. Supper and quiz entry are free but donations are more than welcome for this great cause! The quiz starts at 9pm but the fun starts as soon as you can get here 😍

With a heavy heart I must inform you all that Admiral Taverns have sold The Barge and Barrel and I have been given notice to quit. Unless I am overtaken by other circumstances I will leave on the 6th of December with my last opening day being Saturday the 3rd of December. It is three years on Friday since Liz and I arrived here full of hopes and dreams which some of you helped to fulfil but this last 6 months has been exceptionally hard and I have to admit to being relieved and very much looking forward to a rest. Please make sure you come and say goodbye before we go. Thank you everyone xx

It’s such an incredible and important show. It was such an honour to be a part of this trans non-binary and q***r led cast and crew. I was supported by some of the most incredible people who poured their hearts and souls into this show massive thanks to all of them who helped me to achieve this. .ferreira .w___
