🎱🏆 THE NEW CLUB SNOOKER POWER SERIES – EVENT 4 🏆🎱
Freddie derails the Richard Stuart express to claim Event 4!🚂🏆
Another cracking night of snooker at The New Club as 12 players battled it out in Event 4 of our Snooker Power Series.
This week's format saw 3 groups of 4 with each group winner progressing directly to the semi-finals, while the three runners-up faced a sudden-death blue ball shootout for the final spot.
🔵 GROUP A
Steven Watson was the man to beat in Group A, producing a perfect record of 3 wins from 3 to comfortably secure his place in the semi-finals.
However, the moment of the group had to belong to New Club barman **Jack Royan**, who produced an outrageous table-length double on the blue with just seconds remaining to sn**ch victory over last week's champion, Stevie Sturrock! 🎯👏
Craig Ellis also put in a strong showing, recording two solid wins to claim second place and a spot in the blue ball shootout.
🔵 GROUP B
For the second week running, Richard Stuart was a man on a mission!** 🚂
Richard continued his impressive form from Event 3, dispatching John Herriott and Nate Winkler in his opening two matches with time still remaining on the clock.
Paul Shaughnessy finally managed to take Richard the full distance in their encounter, but the result was the same as Richard completed another clean sweep with 3 wins from 3.
Behind him, things couldn't have been tighter, with Paul, Nate and John all finishing on one win apiece.
That meant our first blue ball shootout of the evening to decide second place!
Paul wasted no time, potting his very first attempt to pile the pressure on his opponents. Despite three attempts each, neither Nate nor John could find the pocket, sending Paul through to the runners-up shootout.
🔵 GROUP C
Group C built towards a winner-takes-all showdown between David McKenzie and Freddie Widgery Grant.
Both players had won their opening two matches, setting up a decisive final group encounter with top spot and automatic semi-final qualification on the line.
It was Freddie who rose to the occasion, securing the victory to finish with a perfect 3 from 3 and send David into the blue ball shootout.
🎯 THE BLUE BALL SHOOTOUT
With Craig Ellis, Paul Shaughnessy and David McKenzie all fighting for the final semi-final spot, the pressure was well and truly on!
It was David who held his nerve, emerging victorious to complete our semi-final line-up.
🔥 SEMI-FINALS
Both semi-finals proved to be closely fought affairs, with very little separating the players.
Freddie Widgery Grant faced Steven Watson in a battle between two unbeaten group winners, while Richard Stuart took on David McKenzie, who had battled his way through the blue ball shootout.
After two tense encounters, it was Freddie and Richard who came through to book their places in the final.
A gallant effort from both Steven and David, who had enjoyed excellent runs throughout the evening. 👏
🏆 THE FINAL – RICHARD STUART vs FREDDIE WIDGERY GRANT
Could anyone stop the Richard Stuart machine? 🚂
After dominating his group for the second consecutive week and battling through another tough semi-final, Richard looked in formidable form.
Standing in his way was young Freddie Widgery Grant, who had been quietly going about his business with a perfect record of his own.
And what a performance Freddie produced when it mattered most!
Showing composure well beyond his years, Freddie delivered a flawless final performance, finishing things off with a superb clearance to bring Richard's winning run to an end and claim the **Event 4 title!** 🏆🎱
👏 Congratulations to Freddie Widgery Grant, our Event 4 champion!**
A fantastic performance from start to finish, and another brilliant evening of competitive snooker.
