April 2026 Newsletter
As previously reported, the Club has committed to allocating a percentage of profits each year towards good causes and the first meeting of the Charity Oversight Group met a few weeks ago. It was noted that the Club would this year donate £12,000 to the fund and the group would look at opportunities to raise even more money during the year. The group is also working on a communication to members on how the fund can be accessed. In short however, for every pound you spend at your Club, a percentage is going to good causes.
Earlier this month, the first fundraising event took place in the form of a very successful whisky tasting evening, hosted by Tomintoul and Glencadam distilleries, which raised £240 for the charitable fund. Never was raising money for charity more enjoyable! More tasting events will be organised soon.
A number of dates have been set for summer barbeques. These will be ticketed events for members and their guests, with any profits going into the Charity Fund. We will let you know finer details nearer the time but the diary dates are:
18 May
20 July
7 September
(we might try and squeeze another one in if they prove popular)
A reminder for all our piping enthusiasts that the next knockout will take place this Sunday 26 April at 4pm between Scott McCaskill and Chris McCartan. Tickets as usual are £6 on the door and this is the first of the two semi finals. We hope to see many of you along to support this event.
As temperatures are set to warm up, we are carrying out some major works on the back garden area to ensure our members can enjoy a long balmy summer in comfort. On Monday 27, work will commence on laying a new resin based surface to replace the existing large concrete sections which have been subsiding in recent years and are a trip hazard. The area is also prone to flooding as there is nowhere for the rain water to drain to. The work will see the existing concrete removed prior to a new base layer of porous concrete being laid and then the new surface on top of that. The work will take over a week to complete during which the garden will be closed but we do hope that you will soon agree that the disruption has been worth it, as the new surface should look great.
Our Sunday afternoon and Thursday evening music continues to be very much enjoyed and there will be some additional live music over the coming summer months. Watch out for details via, Facebook, posters and newsletters!
That’s all for now folks and as ever, all the best from all the Team!
Not just a club…………a community!
