Inspired by our time spent living, working and travelling in Melbourne, New York, San Francisco and all over Europe we want to bring the best of what we experienced and enjoyed to Edinburgh. S & G is a space where the focus is on what we consider to be the simpler pleasures in life; exceptional food and wine; brilliant music; engaging literature. And, most importantly, good company. The focus will be on pairing artisan cheeses with suitably matched wines. We will be offering regularly changing cheese and wine flights showcasing the best seasonal cheeses alongside what wine we have been enjoying that month! As well as cheese we will have a fabulous selection of charcuterie, amazing grilled cheese sourdough, homemade sausage rolls and other tasty morsels. In isolation all are good – together we think they are the basis for enjoying life.

The head of rabidly followed “Big Thief,” Lenker, heads out to the woods with old friends and makes a Grammy-nominated masterpiece: we drink wine and dive into it.

Another Vinyl Club offering for you all to kick-start the festival...

In the month of the Fringe, we’re celebrating innovation.
Recorded in first takes, changing the world of music forever, Miles Davis’s “Kind of Blue” curated a group of the finest improvisers in music history to join him in New York City and create lightning in a bottle. This record blew the gates open in 1959 for John Coltrane and co. to free themselves, their melodies, and their minds, and quit having to prove their genius through fast-and-furious complex bop compositions.

Come join us for Vinyl Club #8 on Weds 5th August to celebrate the one record Quincy Jones said he could listen to every day for the rest of his life, by the artist Bob Dylan said defined cool. Maybe you’ll agree! Let’s listen, discuss, and see what this record tastes like in the glass.

Vinyl Club with a twist this month...

On May 27th will be joining us to host an evening celebrating Cuban music and food with the focus on 1997’s classic album Buena Vista Social Club.

We’ll be listening through the record in standard Vinyl Club form but, for this one off event, whilst Todd is talking all things Buena Vista, we will also be working our way through three delicious plates of Cuban food paired with three wines chosen to fit the music, the food and the vibes!

Three Shades of Gris 🩶

Sure, it’s not quite fifty but this month one of our new Wine Flights is all about the ‘Gris’. Two of the wines are from long time favourite wine producers and , the third introduces an exciting new Slovenian producer that we are showcasing for the first time and keen to hear your thoughts!

‘Gris’ (French for ‘grey’) in wine refers to a mutation of a grape variety which often has a more deeply coloured skin, generally pink, than most white grapes so the wines they produce tend to be darker and, often,
deeper flavoured, too. Undoubtedly the most popular Gris grape of all is Pinot Gris and especially its more famed Italian counterpart, Pinot Grigio.
With this flight you have the chance to try three shades of grey - Sauvignon Gris, Grenache Gris and indeed Pinot Gris - but not as you know it! Come and taste for yourselves 🤌🏻

Internationally renowned and Scotland-based folk-noir balladeer will be with us to celebrate the raw beauty of her contemporary classic, Dreamer Awake.

We’ve loved this record since it came out and are delighted to dive into it with you all, with former Porty native Sermanni herself.
