This Sunday March 29th, The Regent is once again hosting an afternoon social with Leathermen Scotland.
These Leathermen social gatherings are very relaxed, informal and open to everyone. Wearing leather is encouraged but please don't let a lack of leather clothing stop you from coming along - it's a friendly afternoon get-together.
Leathermen gather in the back room from 4pm until around 8pm.

We have a lovely selection of beers from Orkney Brewery in our cellar just waiting to burst out through our handpulls.
The first one to make it through is "Raven" - an amber pale ale. Sitting at 3.8%, it has a fruity and spicy hop aroma, with malt flavours both biscuity and toasty. Hops are East Kent Goldings and Fuggles. Malts are Pale, Crystal and Malted Wheat.

According to the brewery website, Viking folklore claimed the Raven had the eyes and ears of Odin himself. Used on long voyages to guide the Viking long ships, these birds were released on the seas and if they did not return, it signalled that land was close.

Next up in our showcase of beers from Harviestoun Brewery is "Schiehallion", a cask lager.
Named after the munro situated just north of Loch Tay in Perthshire, this 4.8% beer is brewed using lager malt and wheat malt, giving it a pale straw colour. Hops are Challenger, H. Herbrucker, Celeia and Bobek, leading to a fresh crispness and a lingering grapefruit finish.
On a side note, I did once climb Schiehallion. It was chucking it down when I set off, it rained all day and was still pelting down when I got off the mountain. No views whatsoever from the top (or anywhere on the mountain for that matter) and I only knew I'd reached the summit when I found the triangulation pillar. Still, it was a munro ticked off the list.

Over the next few weeks, we're showcasing beers from Harviestoun Brewery in Alva.
Pouring first is "Heaven Cent", a 4.6% session IPA.
Brewer’s Notes: For Heaven Cent, Centennial hops were used (which inspired the beer name) for the aroma to give light floral notes, with some citrus and Eureka hops to add tropical fruit juiciness. For bitterness, we chose Magnum and Waimea hops which provide a crisp, clean bitterness and a pleasing lasting finish.
Malts used are Lager Malt, Wheat Malt & Pinhead Oats.

This Sunday, 1st February, The Regent will open at 4.30pm rather than the regular 4pm.
There is a big football match at Easter Road stadium earlier in the day and we'd like to let the crowds disperse before opening our doors.

Our guest ale this week is the lovely "West Highland Way" from Loch Lomond Brewery.

Over Christmas & New Year, we are showcasing cask ales from Loch Lomond Brewery, located on the banks of the River Leven to the north of Dumbarton.
First up is "Lost In Mosaic". This New World IPA features citra and mosaic hops which give the beer a fruity, citrus profile. Expect hints of pineapple, orange and melon.
