Dublin-born, Edinburgh-based ‘Queer Club Demon’ Sweet Philly (he/they) ♡ is a producer & DJ. They’re a dancefloor chameleon, crossing genre boundaries, style, and context to summon immaculate club energies.
2024 has been a monumental year for Sweet Philly so far, stepping into their own as a producer with their EP Opalescent Groove/New Teeth alongside a festival debut at the sold-out Terminal V festival, supporting Uniiqu3 in Edinburgh’s Bongo Club and working as a resident of Edinburgh-based collective Femmergy to take their special brand of q***r and femme-centric parties to new heights.
As a DJ, they take dancers on a cross-genre journey that uplifts the sounds of the q***r underground and places it on equal footing with the sounds of the Scottish Capital. Harder club sounds are infused with disparate acapellas, snippets of vogue and ballroom classics, familiar vocal hooks and things you’ve never heard before. Over the past decade they’ve developed a collage-like approach to selecting that consistently keeps audiences moving, keeps them on their toes and keeps things fresh. There’s power in preparation, and this club chameleon has done their homework, developing a confident, cardio-heavy, improvisational mixing style with more than enough energy to keep a crowd moving.
