A bit of sad news to end the year.

Unfortunately, we are having to close our doors for good on the 04/01/26. We have tried our best in a very challenging climate but our false start last year and a number of other factors mean we can’t go on any more.

While we are gutted to be closing, we want to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you who took the time to come and see us for a drink. You managed to make something special and we won’t forget it!

There’s still time to come down and see us one last time, as it will be business as usual up until the 4th when we will have one last closing party!

If you can’t make it on the 4th, our festive opening times are:

Boxing Day 4-late
27th 2-late
28th 4-late
Hogmanay 4-late
New Years Day- Closed

Thank you again for your support over the last 2 years. Can’t wait to see who takes the venue on its next steps!

Unicorns of Ruma - St. Lucia Distillers 1931 range.

In 2011, St Lucia Distillers, producers of , celebrated their 80th anniversary of opening the Dennery distillery by releasing the first in their range of limited edition 1931 bottlings, followed by a new blend for the next five years.

At Ruma we have batches 2-6 (the first edition has always eluded us!) and are great showcases for the various different still types and casks available at SLD. Each batch is a different blend of the Vendome pot still, the two John Dore pot stills, and the continuous Coffey still, with different cask influences. The layer editions even included some cane juice distillates.

Later, SLD standardised the 1931 bottling under the Chairman's Reserve label, but the bottles we have are the original 2012-2016 releases.

The Ruma Unicorn series - let's highlight a few bottles of extra special rum that you won't find elsewhere (probably) before they're gone for good!

This week its a 15 year old Grand Arôme from Réunion, aged in ex-Cognac and ex-Port casks and bottled by La Maison du Whisky.

Lots of chocolate, sour cherries, bubblegum, leather, and herbs in a beautiful, elegant, and complex dram.

We have a few pours left if you fancy trying something special! £17.50 for a 25ml dram.

There us a long tradition of bartenders taking smoke breaks as it was often the only way of escaping the bar for a breather. Thankfully times have changed, and we're (for the most part) better at looking after ourselves.
