𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿?

Tucked away at their usual table in the cosy main bar in The Dog and Pheasant East Mersea, right as you walk in the door, two local couples sat in hushed, dramatic silence as a plain manila folder slid across the table.

"𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁, 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲?" Eve whispered.

Annie nodded sharply. "𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿-𝟲𝟬𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘂 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀—𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀."

"𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗳 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀—𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘁, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗲," Annie replied. "𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲."

𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁. 🚨👽

Northern Monk has crossed the Strood undetected, without checks and landed on the pumps!!! 🍻

The regulars are deeply suspicious, but they are willing to have a chat with him despite the flat cap and strange accent. 🤨🧢

Turns out this outsider is called 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵. And apparently, washing down a plate of the new fiery 🔥𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗳’𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀🍗 with a proper northern pale ale is a totally normal combination. Or is it? 🤔

Either way, after a few pints of this hazy nectar, the local border patrol is probably going to dissolve into a full-blown party.

Move over Richard Osman—the real mysteries are being solved right here in East Mersea.

We’ve had a lot of our 𝗩𝗜𝗣 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 doing some serious detective work lately, asking when their favourite mid-week treat is making a comeback. Consider this case officially solved.

Our dedicated VIP menu is returning permanently, running 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 starting 𝟮𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿.

If you’ve been missing our 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟲𝟬'𝘀 𝗩𝗜𝗣 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 - smaller-portions, home-cooked pub classics and a proper catch-up over a pint or a glass of w**e, your table is waiting.

Chef is currently keeping the opening weekly dishes and pricing under lock and key while he puts the final touches on them, but we will be doing the full reveal right here next week.

Starting from 8:00 PM, we are opening up the floor for a live, highly energetic reading of traditional Southern American poetry. Specifically, the works of Ms. D. Parton. But if you would like to bring other poets to the table, you are most welcome to, pardner!

We provide the screens, we provide the text scrolling in real-time if you need the words to recite, and you provide the dramatic, loud vocal delivery into the grid-mesh stick at the front of the room.
