A curious name for a pub on top of the Mendips, but it is believed to have earned it’s name for providing refreshments to prisoners travelling from Wells Jail to Gibberts Brow, where they were due to be hanged in the reign of the notorious ‘Hanging’ Judge

Consider that when next you sup your pint beside one of our roaring fires in the public ‘Mendip Bar’ renamed because we believe the Castle Of Comfort is the ideal showcase for all that’s local. So come and soak up the atmosphere of the Castle of Comfort which is truly Mendip, enjoy the taste of home cooked meals from local farm produce and quality beers and ciders from Sharp's Brewery and Thatcher’s Cider.

Today……

Car event in Aid of Wallace & Gromit Appeal

There is around 60 special cars coming to the Castle and will be on show from 12pm-4pm

Everyone is welcome, there is no parking in our car park as it will be full full but you can park next door where the Barn is.

The bar will be open for drinks only.

There is food available from Jodie’s Roadhouse and a specialty ice cream truck.

Millie has amassed a huge raffle with amazing prizes and all proceeds are going to the Children’s Hospital.
