🎉Sheena is retiring🎉
It is with a mixture of pride, gratitude, excitement, and more than a few tears that we share some very important news...(although many of you know this already)
After dedicating so many years of her life to the hospitality industry, Sheena has made the decision to retire, and ultimately this means as a family we have decided to sell the business BUT don't worry...nothing is changing!
Stuart who is taking over the reins has been around recently getting to know you all and I know that you will show him the kindness as he gets settled that you have shown us.
Finding the words to write this post has been far more difficult than we ever imagined because there have been so many moments at The Cannon over the last 11.5 years that have made it so much more than bricks and mortar. It has been a home, a meeting place, a safe haven, a place of celebration, laughter, friendship and community.
Over the years, Mum has poured her heart and soul into this business. The early mornings, late nights, busy weekends, challenges, triumphs, and everything in between, she has always been there with a smile and a listening ear.
And at this point we must thank all of our amazing staff! The Cannon would truly not be what it is without you and we are wholeheartedly grateful for the hard work, effort and compassion you have gave us over the years and we can hand on heart say we have the best team around!
Many of you have watched our family grow up here. Some of you have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and milestones with us. Others have become lifelong friends. There are faces who walked through our doors as strangers and left as family.
No amount of words could ever truly express how grateful we are for the support, loyalty, kindness and memories that you have all given us over the years. The success of making it through Covid to the support you all gave when Bill (Sheena's husband and my Dad) passed away is something we will never forget. You have helped create something incredibly special, and that is something we will carry with us forever.
For Sheena, this isn't just the end of a business journey; it is the closing of a chapter that has defined so much of her life. Whilst we know retirement is thoroughly deserved, it is impossible not to feel emotional as we reflect on everything that has been built, achieved, and shared within these walls.
To everyone who has supported us, worked alongside us, laughed with us, cried with us, celebrated with us, and simply walked through our doors—thank you. Every conversation, every visit, and every memory has meant more than you will ever know.
As one chapter comes to an end, another begins. We are incredibly proud of Mum and all she has achieved, and whilst this goodbye is bittersweet, we know the future holds exciting things ahead.....(baby sitting the grandchildren...cough....cough!)
There isn't going to be a party but if you would like to pop in say goodbye and happy retirement then Sheena will be around from 4pm, Sunday 14th (tomorrow) till closing (although she will be around working until the 21st)
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our story.
With love, gratitude, and countless memories
❤️
