As the weather starts to cool down, it’s that time of year again at The John Barleycorn — time to bring back our classic, hearty Sunday roast dinners! 🍽️

Gather your family and friends, get cosy, and enjoy a proper Sunday roast with us.

🏁🏎️ THE COUNTDOWN IS OVER… DUXFORD SOAPBOX DERBY IS TOMORROW! 🏎️🏁

We CAN’T WAIT to see you all tomorrow for what promises to be an incredible day of racing, fun, food, music and fundraising! 🎉🙌

Here’s everything you need to know 👇

📅 SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER

🕙 10:00am – Registration & Scrutineering
📍 Four Duxford, 4 St Peter’s St
Come and get a close-up look at this year’s amazing carts and competitors!

🚧 11:30am – Road closures begin
Please be aware that vehicle access will be limited. Affected roads include St Peter’s Street, Chapel Street, Moorfield Road, St John’s Street, Rectory Road, Hinxton Road and adjoining highways.

🏎️ 12:00 Noon – Children’s Races
👧 Race One: Ages 4–7 & 8–11
🧒 Race Two: Ages 12–15

🔥 1:30pm – Adult’s Race: The Phill Hill Cup
🏁 All races start from The John Barleycorn, 3 Moorfield Road
🏆 The adult race finishes at The Plough Duxford

🎶 Following the race there’ll be presentations, live music, food & refreshments at The Plough!

🎟️ FROM 2:00pm – CHARITY AUCTION
Some fantastic prizes are up for grabs, including:
🎯 PDC Darts tickets at Ally Pally
🍰 Afternoon Tea for 4 at Café 19
🛶 Punt hire for 6 from Scudamore’s Punting Company

🚗 2:30pm – Roads re-open

🎟️ Approx. 4:30pm – CHARITY RAFFLE

❤️ BEST OF ALL… THE DERBY IS COMPLETELY FREE TO ATTEND! ❤️

There’s no entry fee to come along and enjoy the day. However, our Soapbox Derby is all about raising money for charity, so buying raffle tickets, getting involved in the auction and making a donation would be hugely appreciated. Every little bit helps! 🙏❤️

🎉 BARLEY FEST ’26 — THAT’S A WRAP! 🎉

After taking stock (and enjoying a very well-deserved day off yesterday!), we just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to EVERYBODY who helped make Barley Fest ’26 so special. ❤️

From all our amazing guests and brilliant performers, to our fabulous food vendors and talented face painter — we couldn’t have done it without you!

And there’s even more to celebrate… 🎉

We’re absolutely thrilled to have raised an estimated £1,000 for Cancer Research! 💗 What an incredible result and a fantastic way to round off the weekend.
