Hi all. As you're aware, Carole Clewes took over as bar manager a couple of months the ago, and she is keen that she can address any issues directly. The Committee have also been getting a lot of hassle every time they go in the club, on operational things that should rightly be discussed directly with Carole, so that she can discuss the best way to sort things, and the Committee can focus on the bigger stuff to keep the club going, especially with CIU taking over (more on that when we have more information). In the meantime Carole has asked for the following message from her to be put on here - Can you post a message from me under the clubs page if you think it is appropriate.
Hi All,
As manager of the club I feel it is only right that I address any operational issues, especially as the committee are ALL working for free to support the club, some of them with full time jobs who also do lots of hours per week supporting the club and allowing it to operate as a business.
I manage the bar and the day to day running of the club so I feel that if anyone has an issue can I ask please that they discuss with me in the first instance, so that I can help understand first hand the issue, and look for the right solution if needed. I would like to prevent childish tail telling that has been happening - the future of the club is important and it needs to stop if people want the club to stay open. If people aren’t able to address things to me face to face, or by messaging me about things that are my responsibility and what I get paid to do, then it probably isn’t an issue at all.
I am happy to speak to anyone who has a genuine issue with how I run the club or with any genuine issue relating to our stock, staff or building. I want things to be right and I will do anything within my means to make sure I address issues quickly. However I will not engage in mindless back stabbing and abuse which at times seems to be the prevalent culture with a few members, generally when I am not there. I have 15+ years in management, I know what I’m doing and I am well aware of my duties, which may differ from what people think they should be. Of course if the issue is with me and how I run the bar, then by all means go the secretary (the secretary is my legal employer, not the committee. I know this message will probably create questions or comments, but can I ask that they are directed to me, rather than on here, as this is a committee run page so I cannot address from here. Overall, I hope that members can work with myself and the committee to keep it open and have a healthy and happy environment for all.
