Today the polls open in Sweden. Our marras, Kristin Linderoth and Filip Roslund , sporting our popular " We are are still here" T shirt have voted against neoliberal and racist politics. Our connection and shared desire to improve the lives of working people across the world is further evidence of how international politics are an integral part of the Durham Miners' Gala . Both Kristin and Filip are regular participants of the Big Meeting. Solidarity to you both and our comrades in Sweden.

Today marks 12 months since the passing of our great comrade ,Dave Temple, who died on 13 September aged 81. Dave was a lifelong militant in the labour movement. He worked as an electrician at Murton colliery, County Durham, and played a leading part in the NUM for several decades.
Dave was known for his organising work in the mining communities, before and during the 1984-85 strike, defending the union and its members in the aftermath, and working to renew labour movement traditions through the Durham Miners' Gala , the Redhills Durham project and other miltiple international initiatives relating to workers' rights and social justice.
His passion, dedication and determination will never be forgotten by those who had the pleasure to work with him.
He was a true Marra to us all. " Keep ya timber in, marra."
