Seven years ago, I came to Dover with Jerk N Tingz, a dream, and a determination to build something people would be proud to support.
That journey led us to The Lord Nelson, and now, as this chapter comes to an end, I just wanted to say thank you.
To everyone who’s supported me over the last seven years—whether you visited Jerk N Tingz, became a regular at The Nelson, recommended us to friends, shared our posts, or simply wished us well along the way—thank you. Every bit of support has meant more than you’ll ever know.
Dover gave me my opportunity. This town gave me a platform, and for that I’ll always be grateful.
The journey hasn’t been perfect. We’ve had some incredible highs, we’ve had some tough days, we’ve made mistakes along the way, and we’ve learned a huge amount from them. That’s all part of building something. Those experiences have shaped me—not just as a chef and business owner, but as a person—and I’ll always be thankful for the lessons.
What I’ll remember most, though, is the people.
The conversations at the bar. The familiar faces. The laughs. The support. The customers who became friends, and everyone who backed us from day one.
Without Dover, I genuinely don’t believe we’d be where we are today.
If you’re around over the last couple of days, it’d be great to see a few familiar faces for one last drink before we hand over the keys.
This isn’t the end. It’s simply the closing of one chapter before an exciting new one begins.
From me, Hayley and the family, thank you for believing in us, supporting us, and being part of our journey.
We’ll never forget where it all started.
See you all again soon.
Matt ❤️🍻
