The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club in partnership with the Swanage Jazz Club, Valentine’s Weekend sees Dylan Ross return to his home town joined by a rising star of London’s West-End, Julia Imbach. Fronting a world-class jazz Quartet, they will perform a romantic concert dedicated to two legendary artists in duo, Frank Sinatra and Liza Minnelli. Expect to hear interpretations of iconic jazz standards and some classic love songs in a classy and intimate setting looking over the idyllic Isle of Purbeck.

Harpist, vocalist and composer Tara Minton brings an intimate trio show to the Swanage Jazz Festival. Joined by David Ingamells on drums and John Williamson on double bass, the trio will present Tara's original compositions, including music from her new Latin American suite "The Devil Invites You To Dance", alongside creative arrangements of beloved standards in a classy and intimate setting looking over the idyllic Isle of Purbeck.

The Purbeck Guitar Festival and Love It Local in partnership with the Swanage Jazz Club, proudly present Peter Cooley, a soulful singer and guitarist hailing from Bournemouth. With roots tracing back to London, Peter's musical journey has seen him traverse Europe, gracing stages with his soul, funk, and blues-infused performances.

Having earned his stripes through years of relentless gigging, Peter is now stepping into a new chapter, focused on recording and sharing his own original music. His songs are a reflection of his journey, filled with the same grit, groove, and spirit that have defined his life.
Peter's sound is a captivating blend of vintage blues and soul, reimagined through a modern lens. Whether through electrifying guitar solos or powerful, soulful vocals, Peter Cooley’s music is a testament to the heart and hustle of a true artist.

Gary Cain is a Canadian-born, Austin bred, and now UK-based guitarist. Cain’s incendiary fret-work earned him an opening slot with blues-rocker George Thorogood, a Semi-Finalist finish at the International Blues Challenge, and main-stage appearances at major festivals across North America, Europe, and the UK.

15 FEB 2025 - Just announced joining Dylan Ross and rising star of London’s West-End, Sammy Graham will be a stellar line up of local jazz legends.

These seasoned professionals all boost prolific careers in the UK jazz scene and have collaborated with some of the UK's great artists. Paul Stiles on Reeds (Joe Loss Orchestra, Manhattan Groove) is a prolific player and lecturer of jazz music. His virtuous phrases and runs are alike to the sounds of the horn blowing titans of the swing era. Phil Doyle on Keys (P*e Wee Elis, Claire Martin, Art Theman) plays with a robust sensibility alike to the sounds of Keith Garret and Oscar Peterson. Joe Limburn on Bass (Jo Harrop, Dave Newton, Sara Dowling) plays with sympathy and a style synonymous with the classic jazz anthology. Andy Chapman on Drums (Liane Carroll, Zara Macfarlane, Alexander Stewart) is an unmatched talent on the local scene. He plays with a delicate and effortless style which never fails to impress.

‘NOT JUST SAX QUINTET’ WITH special guest Derek Nash

The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club in partnership with the Swanage Jazz Club, proudly present an exciting opportunity to see one of UK’s busiest jazz musicians, Jools Holland’s main man, Derek Nash. Derek is not only a performer but is also a band leader, recording engineer, composer, producer and educator.

‘NOT JUST SAX’ are a group of five local musicians from the south led by Sarah Bolter on Saxes, flute, clarinet and vocals. The band was formed in 2001 and are bound together by a love of melodic, rhythmic jazz whilst enjoying pushing the boundaries of the idiom with a variety of well-known favourites and originals composed by pianist Ray Shea.

Sarah met Derek when he produced her last album and Sarah is very excited to be sharing the stage with Derek and Not Just Sax at Swanage Jazz Club. Expect dualling saxes and high energy!

Derek and ‘Not Just Sax’ share a love of high energy music as well as beautiful ballads and are looking forward to having lots of fun together on October 12th.

The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club in partnership with the Swanage Jazz Club, proudly present Alan Barnes and David Newton duo who have been playing duets together for over 40 years, making their debut at the Swanage Jazz Club. These multi award-winners cover a vast repertoire from Louis Armstrong to Chick Corea and play with an empathy that can only come with long experience. The emphasis, as always, is on swinging, accessibility and interplay. Expect a hugely entertaining programme of straight ahead jazz flawlessly played and interspersed with lots of anecdotes. Their recently released album on Woodville Records “’Tis Autumn” will be available on the night.

The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club in partnership with the Swanage Jazz Club & HJC, proudly present Jo Harrop & Fraser Urquhart, who will be performing a set of stunning jazz ballads to celebrate the romance of Valentine’s weekend.

Singer/Songwriter Jo Harrop, having just returned from playing at some of the top jazz venues in New York, LA and San Franscisco is most at home, singing smokey torch songs at the piano, and there’s no finer pianist to accompany her on these timeless intimate songs, than Scottish pianist, Fraser Urquhart. Songs such as Burton Lanes’ Too Late Now, Victor Youngs’ My Foolish Heart, and David Manns’ Wee Small Hours Of The Morning, are amongst the beautiful works of art in the set.
