Lock in? More like lock out! 😩

⚠️ A slightly delayed opening this morning…

The good news? Our cellar refit is complete—and it’s looking brand spanking new! 😍

The bad news? Our front door apparently isn’t quite as impressed and has decided to jam itself shut 😩

Thankfully, Locksmith Lee (probably not his real name) is on his way to rescue us! We won’t be open at 10am as planned, but bear with us folks…we’ll have the doors open and the pints pouring as soon as possible🍻

Well, that was one seriously busy Leger weekend! A huge thank you to everyone who called in for a pint or two of our St Leger 250 beer 🍻

Now for the slightly less fun stuff… unfortunately, we’ll be closed tomorrow and Tuesday while some crucial maintenance work is carried out across our bar and cellar areas. It’s work that simply has to be done to keep everything running tip-top, and being open seven days a week doesn’t leave us with much downtime to tackle these jobs!

We’ll be back open as normal from Wednesday, hopefully looking slightly less knackered than we do now!

This isn’t just another beer release.

This week, Doncaster celebrates something genuinely special… 250 years of the St Leger, the world’s oldest Classic and a piece of our city’s history dating all the way back to 1776!

So obviously…we made a beer for it 🍺

Introducing The St Leger 250 – 250th Anniversary Pale Ale, brewed by our good pals at Triple Point Brewery + Bar especially to mark this incredible milestone.

At 4.2%, it’s everything we wanted our Leger beer to be…light, hoppy, easy drinking and full of life, just like St Leger week itself.

We’ve got it in cans AND on draught, with both going on sale from tomorrow morning ahead of the festival kicking off on Thursday.

🌍 It isn’t International Beer Day if we don’t put a post up telling you all about the phenomenal beers we’ve got pouring today…

It also isn’t International Beer Day if one of our suppliers doesn’t drop a massive bo***ck and fail to deliver one of our key event beers on time 🙄

We’ll start with the bad news. Our Sierra Nevada cask has literally just turned up, meaning we can’t serve it today as it hasn’t had chance to settle. Rest assured, it’s here and will be going on next week!🍻

Now the good news…

We’ve got some absolute BANGERS pouring all day from the likes of Hudson Valley, Amundsen, Oso and more and the fridge is chocker block with tinnies from Hudson Valley, Other Half, Oso, Finback, Amundsen, Sierra Nevada, Prairie Artisan Ales and plenty more besides! What a lineup 😍

We’ll also be cracking open some cheeky 🇺🇸 imperial stouts from Prairie Artisan Ales for sampling from around 6pm (first come, first served!) Chai Martini Imperial Stout anyone? 👀

Today we’re raising a glass to one of our friends… Gaz, aka The Dentist, who’s celebrating his 60th birthday! 🍻🥳

For those who’ve ever wondered why we call him “The Dentist”, here’s the story…

When we first opened, Gaz started popping in every Saturday. Over the first year we noticed something very specific – without fail, he’d walk through the door at 2:30pm every week. Naturally, he became The Dentist… ya know, 2:30… tooth hurty (come on, it’s a good one)!

What we didn’t realise at the time was that there was a method to his madness. We didn’t know him at this point, but Gaz had worked out that at around 2:15pm, a flurry of train arrivals would empty the place, leaving him free to choose whichever seat he fancied. Unsurprisingly, he always picked the one near the bar, where he could put the world to rights with us, and the rest, as they say, is history.

So here’s to you, our resident Dentist. Thanks for being part of The Draughtsman family for all these years.

Happy 60th Birthday, Gaz! We hope you have a fantastic day, and we’ll see you at the bar for a celebratory pint later today! 🎉

🍻 Weekend warrior wanted 🍻

We're on the hunt for someone to join the team at The Draughtsman Alehouse, mainly for our busier periods on weekends!

Shifts will be mainly Saturdays and Sundays with the occasional extra thrown in during the week when it's busy and if it suits you.

About the job:

• Working in a busy bar environment🍺
• Serving a vast range of beers both local and from around the globe 🌍
• Keeping the bar looking tip top 🧽
• Chatting to brilliant people (our regulars are the best)👫

If you hate weekends, crowds and good music... then this probably isn't the job for you.
And if Saturday afternoons are for "me" and not "we"... you'll struggle here.

No experience? No worries.
Attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn matter far more. Full bar training and beer expertise will be provided (yes, this means you’ll be tasting beer as part of your training)!

⚽ A quick headers-up for this evening…

We’ll be wrapping things up a little earlier than usual so our team can watch their team (hopefully) thump the Argentinians… at football that is 👀🍻

🍺 Last orders will be called a little earlier than normal, and from 7pm it’ll be takeaway drinks only. If you’re arriving after 7pm, you won’t be able to sit inside, sorry.

It only happens once every four years, so spare us your tears until they’re actually warranted… probably on Sunday when Spain inevitably give us a collective heart attack 😂
