It’s Sunday, which can only mean one thing… Quiz Night at The Brass Lamp!

Jon’s back with the questions tonight from 6pm, so get a few of you together and come along for a bit of general knowledge.

There’ll be questions, a bit of banter and no doubt a few disagreements over the answers!

A few drinks and a bit of friendly competition. Not a bad way to finish the weekend!

We’ve got some great music lined up at The Brass Lamp through November, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. A few familiar faces, some vinyl favourites and plenty of reasons to get together 🍻

There’s more to announce, but here are the first dates for your festive diary…

Saturday 21st November — from 3.30pm
Paul Gibbard, The Lincoln Modfather, joins us for an afternoon of Mod revival, rhythm & blues and classics. A Saturday afternoon well spent.

Saturday 5th December
Tom’s Ska & Reggae Vinyl Night. From ska and 2 Tone to rocksteady, reggae and dancehall, all on vinyl. This one should get the bar moving.

Saturday 12th December
Soul, Motown, Northern Soul & Funk Vinyl Night. Big voices, great records and we will have to make a little room for dancing.

Saturday 19th December
An afternoon with Paul Gibbard from 3pm, followed by Tom’s Christmas Countdown Vinyl Night from 7pm. Two very good reasons to get your Christmas crowd together and make a day of it.

New Year’s Eve — 2–5pm
The Brass Lamp Boogie returns. After a brilliant afternoon last year, Roger & The No-Ones are back to help us see out 2026 in style. We’ll be closing early that day, so we’re getting our celebrations underway in the afternoon. Live music, good company and time to head off to your evening plans afterwards.

We’re looking forward to these. Get a few dates in the diary, pass them on to your friends and come and join us.

A slightly darker side of The Brass Lamp this Friday and Saturday as we go After Dark for Halloween weekend.

Themed cocktails, Halloween-inspired b**rs and The Devil’s Jukebox providing a darker soundtrack to the evening.

There are a few monsters lurking in the fridge from Tartarus Beers, including Frankenstein’s Monster Key Lime Pie Saison and Dracula’s Daughter Blood Orange IPA, alongside Merlin Double IPA and Raijū.

Pheasantry Screamer is also on cask.

We’ve also got Holy Goat’s Astral Destiny on draught. Turns out it’s a sour… Adam picked it for the badge rather than reading what it actually was 😐 But if you’re a sour b**r fan, you’re in luck.

His horror has already started… he’s also agreed to have cocktails on the menu. Please do order one, just to see his face.

Fancy dress is absolutely welcome, but there’s no pressure. If you do rock up dressed for the occasion at any point over the weekend, we may have a shot for you with your first purchased drink, just to reward the effort.

A slightly different review today from Phil’s usual weekly b**r update, but one that’s very important to us.

We had our annual inspection from Bassetlaw’s Environmental Health team this afternoon and were awarded a 5 out of 5 food hygiene rating.

Although we’re predominantly a drinks-led bar, food hygiene applies to what’s in your glass too, and keeping our standards high matters just as much.

A good start to the week.

I’m used to seeing these fine fellows sipping their pints and chatting in the bar, so it was quite something to see them as Certificate X in full flow on Saturday. What a performance.

Steve Kirk certainly was playing his guitar to win a Tunnock on Saturday!

Thank you, chaps, for playing at our Oktoberfest and helping make it such a great afternoon.

What a day! German b**r, good music and a fabulous Oktoberfest at The Brass Lamp!

The weather certainly wasn’t on our side, but you braved it and came out in force. It was great to see so many of you enjoying the steins of b**r, music and pies.

Early Morning Blues Band and Certificate X provided some brilliant live music. A huge thank you to both bands, and to Tom for his Bavarian Beat Club session. Thankfully, the oompah records lasted only two songs before Madness and The Specials took over!

A big thank you Clarkes Craft Butchers for the lovely pies and for lending us the equipment to serve them. They’re a fantastic local butcher, and we’re so grateful for their support.

Thank you to Susan and Isabella for keeping everyone fed and organising the pies, and to Kimberley and Lucy for working hard to keep the drinks flowing.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who came along. Whether you stayed for 20 minutes or the full nine hours, your support made the day what it was - it was lovely to see!

Thank you, too, for your patience whenever there was a wait for drinks.

It looks like Oktoberfest is becoming a firm annual fixture at the bar. We’ll see you again next year!
