Having garnered worldwide recognition and millions of listeners with music under aliases such as Sign Crushes Motorist, Take Care and Birth Day, Dead Calm, the latest alias from Donegal songwriter Liam Mc Cay has announced their first tour of the UK & Ireland, including a date in Sandinos, Derry on Thursday 24th September.
Dead Calm is a band fronted by Liam Mc Cay (Sign Crushes Motorist, Take Care, Birth Day) - a prolific Irish musician from Donegal, who has multiple different widely successful aliases that explore and weave between a variety of different genres. Namely, slowcore and indie-rock.
The lyrics are direct, poignant, introspective and are often coupled with melancholic themes that have earned him a cult following online across Spotify and Soundcloud.
His growth has been organic, with a very DIY, bedroom approach, despite his rapidly skyrocketing ascent.
He began with the fiddle, pivoted to guitar during the pandemic, and has since released extensive work, even turning down record deals to keep his creative process personal.
With 1.6 million monthly Spotify listeners on the project Dead Calm alone, Liam Mc Cay and his band are certainly not to be missed.
