After a fantastic night away at the amazing Dunalastair Hotel Suites in Kinloch Rannoch, I couldn’t resist dragging Spoor to a distillery 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

Our first distillery visit this year in these torrid times 🤦🏼‍♂️

We managed to pop into Blair Athol in Pitlochry for a quick look around the shop and grounds 🙌🏻

Having spent many a holiday in Tomintoul, I’ve always been a big fan of their Whisky 🥃

I was intrigued by this one, so couldn’t resist getting a bottle. Big big fan of this sherry bomb, so smooth, typical of Tomintoul Whisky. 👌🏻

GlenAllachie – Gherkin Wood Finish – Exclusively bottled for Germany!

Kirsch Import präsentiert in Zusammenarbeit mit GlenAllachie eine Weltpremiere: Der erste Whisky, nachgereift in Gurkenfässern einer deutschen Gurkenmanufaktur.
So etwas gab es noch nie! Für die erste „Germany Exclusive“ Abfüllung der GlenAllachie Wood Finish Serie haben wir uns für eine ganz besondere Fassreifung entschieden. In Kooperation mit einer brandenburgischen Gurkenmanufaktur haben wir eigens drei 200 Liter Gurkenfässer produzieren lassen, in denen anschließend feinste Spreewaldgurken für mindestens 4 Wochen eingelegt wurden. Diese Fässer haben wir im Anschluss nach Schottland zu GlenAllachie geschickt, wo sie mit 10-jährigem GlenAllachie Whisky aus 1st Fill Bourbon Fässern befüllt wurden. Nach einem 6-monatigem Finish in den Gurkenfässern, hat der Whisky bereits einen schönen Kiwi-grünen Farbton erhalten.

In der Nase frische Noten von Dill und Petersilie – untermalt von einer leichten, salzigen Pfeffrigkeit. Auf der Zunge leicht prickelnd und sehr würzig. Frische Gartenkräuter werden von einer süßlichen Vanille aus den Bourbonfässern umschlungen. So etwas haben wir noch nie erlebt!
Der Abgang ist kräftig und lang. Wieder eine leichte Salznote und viel Würze.
