Cross Borders’ origins trace back to an illicit biscuit cartel run by our two founders in primary school. This brewery is the result of years of friendship, hard work, experience, and a refusal to grow up. As we approach ten years since we started brewing in anger at Eskbank, we’ve decided to look ahead to how we best ensure the business continues to succeed over the next decade.

You’ll no doubt be aware of many of the challenges the sector has faced over the past few years; with COVID, the energy crisis caused by Russia’s war on Ukraine, the cost of living crisis, Government regulatory changes, the increasing national insurance burden as well as ever increasing input costs of materials and ingredients.

Some might well call it a perfect storm. As a small business, we only have very limited resources to help us navigate our way through that storm.

So, we’ve decided that reducing our fixed overheads and expenses will help us to be more agile and better able to survive and thrive through the next 10 years.

To that end, we will be stopping production at our Eskbank site and moving to a contract brew model, working with some of our best friends in the industry in the months and years to follow.

The existing business will be marketed on a de-branded basis as a turn-key brewery and taproom opportunity for someone new and we really hope that it’ll get snapped up proper quick and brewing and taproom sessions will continue on the site for many years to come.
Don’t worry, the taproom is staying open for your weekend local beer needs whilst the business is being marketed!
