And it’s not just galas! 🎉

What a night! 🥂🌊

We were so proud to host the Crantock Surf Life Saving Club 40th Anniversary Gala here at The Bowgie - and what a brilliant way to celebrate 40 years of friendship, volunteering, community and lifesaving.

Even better, the evening is looking to have raised a magnificent £8,000 towards the club’s new clubhouse! 🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, donated, bought raffle tickets and helped make the night such a success. And of course, a massive shout-out to the Crantock SLSC team for all the hard work that went into bringing it together.

It’s what community is all about, and we’re so happy to have played a small part in celebrating such an important milestone for a club that means so much to our local area ❤️

Here’s to 40 years of Crantock SLSC - and many more to come! 🥂

The Bowgie Left is coming alive again! 🌊🏄‍♂️

We’ve had some proper swell rolling through lately, and it’s been pretty special watching the Left start to fire again.

Come down, grab a spot with a view and watch the surfers do their thing - then head inside for a well-earned drink afterwards!

We’re also on the lookout for some epic shots of the Left! If you’re a photographer who’s been capturing the swell, get in touch - we’d love to see your photos and share some of our favourites.

Have you ever heard the Gannel Crake? 👀 Autumn is a time for slowing down, heading out for a walk and actually taking the time to listen to what’s around you 🍂🌊

And if you’re walking around Crantock and the Gannel, you might just hear something a little more mysterious… Local legend tells of the Gannel Crake, a strange and haunting cry said to echo around the Gannel Estuary.

The story goes that two brothers gathering seaweed beneath West Pentire heard the terrifying sound, which was said to be so unsettling that it frightened their horses and sent them running.

No one has ever quite agreed on what the Crake actually was - a
mysterious creature, a natural phenomenon or simply the sounds of the estuary itself. But the legend lives on.

So next time you’re out walking around Crantock this autumn, slow down, take in the quiet and listen carefully…
